The Last Waltz is in a league on it's own.

Side note, Levon Helm did an interview with Katie Couric after his comeback with throat cancer that was a really good interview. He was an awesome guy.

In store, I usually drift to guardians of the galaxy soundtrack, which covers all the movies. There's only one song that forces me to rage skip.

By what's been posted in this thread, i will expand. I will skip Saturday night fever though.

I liked both. John Williams was king. I could never make a "Best" list... I love movies that transport you like Gladiator, but I love the nostalgia from Guardians of the Galaxy or The Big Chill.

The Big Lebowski. Dylan, CCR, Captain Beefheart, Fifth Dimension (Kenny Rogers), Townes Van Zandt, etc.

Reservoir Dogs. First soundtrack I never bought. Pulp Fiction's music might have been better overall, but not by much.

As for scores, lots of great ones already mentioned in the thread. Couple others that I didn't see listed but are worth a look:

The Conversation.

The Sting.

My favorite soundtracks have been by Hans Zimmer. The Dark Knight trilogy are the best known - particularly the last two - but my favorites of his were Interstellar and Inception. Time remains my favorite single movie score. The way his songs played up their parts of each movie were incredible to me.

It was mentioned, but deserves more attention. This was very popular in its day (mid 80's). Just a great collection of songs...

I will give you one that I rewatched this past year even though the movie itself isn't that great. I do like the music and you can make fun of me if you like.
