1. Norwood-Hands down, if this guy had an OL he woulda been unbelievable<div>2. Dixon-one of the most physically gifted athletes to ever play for State. If he would have been in shape his first 3 years goodness what a monster he woulda been.</div><div>3. Dontae Walker-in his prime of course, guy was unreal</div><div>4. J.J. Johnson-one of the best north and south runners we've ever had</div><div>5. Dicenzo Miller-if he had just a little more speed, guy coulda been 1st team All-SEC</div>

1. Norwood.....just special.
2.James Jones....old school guy here from the late 70's . Messed his knee up as a senior....they had photos of the play in the annual.....still went on to play for the cowboys on a bum leg.
3. Dennis Johnson also from the 70's . a beast....really whipped up on Washington State out there one year behind him.
4. Anthony Dixon....He leads them all in yards and very athletic for his size....Great heart!
5. That dumb 17er from Clinton....refuse to even say his name......he makes my list on her first 2.5 years alone. Special and could have been it all.......pretty good size....even beflre he blew up and fast....Could take it to the corner and then hit the gas. Just flew by people.....a waste, but he still makes my top 5.

Have several others but these stand out for me.

JJ is there as well and I should probably have him ahead of the Clinton 17er......

I know he had that level of talent, but even when he was playing well the production wasn't close.

I'll go with three:
1-Norwood
2-Dixon
3-Johnson

Both were bad men and Bouie had some speed for his size. Can never forget Davis and his 40 run attempt Egg Bowl victory.

1. Norwood
2. J.J. Johnson
3. Dixon
4. Miller/Walker of 2000
5. Davis/Bouie

What I would have given to have had a quality offensive system with almost everyone of these guys...

Other not top 5 but honorable mention in my book:
Kenny Roberts
Chris Rainey (if for no other reason than the 96 Bama game)

bad teams but he was a great running back with as much talent as any back I've seen grace the presence of Scott Field.......Maybe not as strong a runner as some mentioned (Johnson, Dixon, Davis, etc.) but he had a good blend of size and speed........</p>Kenny Roberts was the fastest back I remember..........He didn't quite make it to 1000 yards in 1991 or 1992......Finished with 900+ yards......Blazing speed and was a track guy.....

Putting Dontae on the list period is despicable.

I can't make just a top 5. In no particular order.

Norwood, Dixon, Miller, Keefer, Davis, Johnson

1. Jeroius Noorwood-should be noted how bad our ol was when he played
2.Anthony Dixon-he was a beast
3.JJ Johnson- he was big and fast, hard runner
4.Dicenzo Miller-probably the least gifted athlete on list, just a good football player
5.Keifer Mcgee-super talent, terrible tragedy
6.Michael Davis-a big bruiser</p> *my grandfather says harper davis was best ever, better than shorty

in a career, but he was, in my eyes the best I ever saw run with or without a football.

I was onSHStrack teamand to see that massive man running next to those kids LITERALLY half his size was a thingof beauty.

A coach who came to us from Auburn in the late 80s said that David was HIGHER on auburns recruiting listthan Bo.

Dennis Johnson of Weir High School, Mississippi State University and Buffalo Bills. It's a close call among JJ, Packer, and Norwood, but Dennis is number one.

I would put Norwood at the top of the list of guys I've can remember seeing since '86. Next would probably be JJ. He benefited from one of the best offensive lines we've ever had. If Norwood had the same line as JJ we would have won a lot of ballgames. Unfortunately the lines Norwood ran behind were not even CUSA level.

Everyone in the stands was talking about the next Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson, etc. When he had a decent run everyone would stand and cheer.

1. David Fair- he was our Hershal Walker- but of course, the Indians underneath Scott Field crippled him early in his career
2. Micheal Haddix- great player and pretty good pro
3. Jerious Norwood
4. JJ Johnson- wish he had played 4 years for us instead of 2
5. Keffer Magee- damn shame

Honorable mentions- Walter Packer and Anthony Dixon

Anthony Dixon in your Top 5. An argument could be made that heshould be no. 1. He is the career leader in TD's, Yards, All-time scoring leader, hell he has almost all of the records and he did this for 3 years with Croom and McCorvey calling the plays andno QB'sor threat of a passing game.

My list:
1. Anthony Dixon
2. Jerious Norwood
3. Michael Haddix
4. JJ Johnson
5. Keffer McGee

Most over-rated: hate to say it, but Dicenzo Miller. He had a great run against BYU that most people remember. But he ran behind some great O-lines and split carries with Dontae. Dicenzo was a very solid player who ran extremely hard, but not Top 5.

Most under-rated: My man, Hank Phillips

Most Potential: David Fair, honorable mention to Kevin Bouie who blew out his knee in his first game.

Dicenzo is one of my all time favorite players, but almost everyone in this post has him Top 5. I think he is Top 10, but I would actually take Vick Ballard, Michael Davis, Kevin Bouie and maybe even Dontae in addition to my Top 5 over Dicenzo. We are talking about a guy that ran a 4.93 at the combine. Combine times aren't everything, but if I'm making a Top 5 list, I want my RB to be faster than his O-linemen.

What a shame how forgetful people are around here. Dicenzo was the heart and soul of those teams his jr and sr years. As Dicenzo went so went the team. In 2000& 2001 Dicenzo hadmore yards, more yards per carry, more touchdowns, more receivingyards and more all purpose yards than Dontae. The sad thing is Dicenzo played injured the entire 2001 season and stillbeat Dontae in every category. He may not have paper speed, but he had football speed and I would take him any day of the week over Dontae.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't he a linebacker? Know he was one of the all-time great football players, but not aware he was a great RB.

most underrated and most unheralded players in State history!! He really deserves the attention and acknowledgment of a Walter Packer, Michael Haddix, James Jones, James Johnson, Jerious Norwood, etc. Unfortunately, everyone wants to name the players they remember the most and that happens to be those backs from about 1985 to present since that period covers the age of most posters on here

The media wasn't near as big as it is now. You can find highlights from every single game now. Back then State played maybe 3 games a year on TV. I could have posted the BYU video, but it was already talked about, and there were a couple of nice, but not spectacular videos of Dicenzo.
