And Ole Miss will be much worse next year losing Buckner Williams and Holloway.

Said the same thing on 247 a couple days ago. They will keep AK for at least two more years after getting to the NCAAs this year. Today was good for MSU basketball.

Henderson grabbed the headlines, sometimes for the wrong reasons, but Holloway had a very solid year this year.

Whomever gets the job after AK will inherit a pretty good situation if that new facility gets built. Little or no expectaitons and great digs.

I personally think AK is all OM wants with regard to what they will pay for but i'm not an om fan. Just seems that way anyway.

I am in agreement that I dont think OM will get someone with the basketball experience of Andy. Michael White might be the next coming, but if he isnt, that is one bad decision.

I agree, but Kennedy has done a great job at Ole Miss by our standards. He deserves his job for at least two more years.

We felt the same way after Polk got us to Omaha in 2007 then the bottom fell out. Your front court and senior wing are leaving and Henderson may be in jail in days. Next year y'all will be bitching on the spirit about how Kennedy needs to go. Now y'all are sucking his dick.

Or our front court recruiting class pans out to go along with what will perhaps be the best stable of guards in the SEC. Of course bad things COULD happen - is that the best you've got?

Before this week of the SEC tournament, did you honestly feel this way? Every Ole Miss fan I talked to prior to the tournament was unsatisfied with Andy Kennedy as coach.

Don't get me wrong, an SEC tournament championship is great, but besides that it was pretty much consensus from Ole Miss fans they wanted him gone. This will obviously keep him, but I don't think it changes his lack of coaching ability.

In that case, Rick Ray is coming to Cincinnati, and we're going out on the town. Then we're going to slap every cabbie in the tri-state area we can find.

I will give them credit for finally winning an SEC title in one of the...

2 major sports for the first time in over 30 years but let's not get ahead of ourselves. This is the worst SEC basketball has EVER been in my memory. Winning a title in the SEC this year in basketball equates to essentially being the tallest midget. I'll be surprised if any SEC teams make any real noise in the NCAA tournament.

That is because the 'every Ole Miss fan' you know doesnt know **** about basketball. We are the equivilant of the acc in football. We have the money but not the interest. AK, might not be as good as stansbury or richard williams, but he meets the requirements for the budget of MSU and OM sports. He cares, he knows about bb, he's from MS and he's been other places.

MSU should expect slightly more because we've been to higher places, but in the end just being competitive past the first round of the tournament is about all MSU fans can expect.

OM should expect to make the Ncaa's every 3-4 years or so and be done with it. AK pulled that off and he deserves to be given the chance to build on it.

Hasn't AK been there 7 years? The SEC sucks this year as bad as I can remember and you had to pull one out of your *** to make it... Again, AK staying in Oxford is good for State.

Again, you speak as if AK leaving Ole Miss would for sure be better for State than if he were to stay, which doesn't make much sense as far as I'm concerned, considering our options for replacing him.

Wisconsin should steamroll them. If OM pulls a yearly 5-12 upset, then they'll have Kansas State waiting for them in essentially a home game for the Wildcats.

Maybe Crunchy Mike can give an Op-Ed about Kansas State players this year . . .

We state fans know better. Andy at the very minimum waters down the talent in this state for us. He goes and it's better for MSU bottom line.

He may have been there 7 years or 100. Doesnt matter. MSU and OM will only spend so much on Basketball and he is just about the best either school can hope for. Can either school do better? sure. But not without luck. And that just doesnt come in the form of basketball around here.

We'll be luckier than you because we have a marginally better past in basketball without the local competition for recruits. But at the end of the day, unless a coach loses control of a team completely, Kennedy is the pinnacle of what should be expected.

You actually think they could hire a better coach? Kennedy aint that good but the alternatives are worse. Just look at our hiring process last year for evidence. I like Ray but damn near everyone here thought we'd hire a guy that was more well known. Ole Miss would be in much worse shape when hiring. The only option that anyone of us would know is the guy at La Tech. After that it is scraping up someone.

In the end it doesn't really matter because Kennedy is their highest level and that means we have little to be worried about no matter what they do.

This was weakest SEC in a very long time and Ole Miss was the benefactor of it. If they had to play the first or second day of the tourney they would not have been in the Championship game. Next year will be a very bad year for ole Miss. They lose many key guys and the SEC will be better.

AK ...

You are deluding yourself if you think Ole Miss can do any better than AK at this point in time.

in his 7th year, has overcome typical end of year slumps to win the SECT. OM has not been too eager to extend AK but with the SECT win and dance invite have changed the dynamics. AK's agent is going to be asking for a '3 year deal' and he now has leverage.

As a State fan, this is good news. They lose Williams, Buckner and Holloway. I just don't see Henderson leaving and that may end up being bad for next year's team. Kid has talent and a quick release but he is also a 'powder keg' with a short fuze and when it does go off ... it won't be pretty.

I don't know if they could hire a better coach... but I don't think fans will ever be fully supportive of AK. Some people simply don't like him because of the international incident.

I know people who love UM basketball and go to almost every game - but they could not care less if AK was fired. These same people do not like Henderson & his antics. I realize those fans are probably few & far between... but they are the same people who buy season tickets whether UM is 20-10 or 10-20. They love UM and the basketball program and they hate to see it embarrassed. Just like many of us got sick of watching the dumpster fire regardless of what our record was.

Actually, they've got a great seed to make it to the Sweet 16. You don't have to beat a top 10 team to get there as a #12 seed. They could make the Sweet 16 and Florida would still be the best team they've beat this season. It's a total crapshoot whether they win 0, 1 or 2 games in the tournament.
