I wanted to know from people in different parts of the state, who are some of the best players you've seen so far this season from the class of 2019, 2020, and 2021?

Marc Gresham has been a standout for KW this year despite the teams record. He has about 500 yards rushing and 400 yards receiving while being the focus of every defense. He's about 5'8" 165. He also has a younger brother who is an 8th grader and is a 6'2" 180 lb rb who I expect will have an impact on the varsity level for 4 years.

Gresham is also a deadly returner!

I would like to recommend young 8th grade Gresham to tryout for FBU Team Virginia this weekend.

As long as he is willing to pay the price tag for FBU right? What a scam you guys are running.

Hey kids and parents! If you want to play college ball, none of these things will get you there. Save your money for one day camps on campus at school that you have the grades to attend. You are better off spending your money on an SAT prep class.

Bulldog1150 I once shared the same perspective as you as recently as a year ago. I actually coached FBU in 2014 and our organization charged the kids $275 per player. That didn't sit well with me so I left FBU alone. This year FBU Virginia is under new management and the kids are only being charged the FBU registration fee which is $150 per player which is not bad at all when you compare it to other tournaments. Even when I was doing FBU and didn't agree with the high fees I still couldn't deny the level of talent that we faced during competition. The sixth grade kids that we coached that year went on to do FBU/Crab Bowl the next season and last season as 8th graders they did the Mason-Dixon Bowl along with spring football with us during the last two years. Those kids have improved so much more than their peers that the majority of our 2021 kids are playing full-time varsity starting or playing major minutes. The others are part time varsity or start JV. I try to follow up with all of them by talking with their high school coaches to check their progress and I've heard nothing but praises from their coaches. We've held academic workshops (not scholarship but college admission workshops) and also have visited a half dozen college campuses.
I'm not employed by FBU nor do I coach FBU but I do support FBU {under these new registration changes} and any platform that will help improve the kids skill level while in pursuit of their dreams. I agree with you that you do not have to play FBU if you want a scholarship, I am a former high school and college football coach so I know first hand when recruiting a player I've never asked about their FBU experience. Playing against top notch competition is what I stand by and FBU regardless of their high priced requirements in the past present the best competition that I know of. Maybe we can talk more in detail about what I do and how I can maybe assist this young man in pursuing his goals if he loves football like the rest of our kids that have came through our program loves football.

It's basically, travel ball for football, right?
I wouldn't classify it as travel football because travel football as I know it can go on for an entire season. It is an All-Star tournament (three weeks in December). There are so many youth tournaments around now it is hard to call a duck a duck but it is very close to AAU in the sense that your FBU organization has definitive boundaries that they can recruit from in order to draw the "highest" level talent that they can gather and play against other metro areas and states. States like Maryland/Georgia/Oregon/Texas/Florida have dominated this tournament due to the commitment from the overall football communities in those respective areas and the hard work of the administration behind those organizations. Our kids in VA are just as talented as those other areas but it is difficult to establish the unity that is needed to get our very best players involved.
