The guy is losing his job, so it's not like he's not being punished. And it's not like there is a huge problem with women going around spitting on people and attacking them. If some of the few women doing that get hit, it's not going to cause our society to unravel. Worst case scenario is that even fewer women who would like to go around spitting on people and attacking them will choose to act on their impulse. Not exactly a dystopian society.
What's funny is that woman could probably fight to a draw with 10 to 15% of the people on this board, much less stop them from holding her down.

Yes, but only because she is unarmed. With a weapon of some sort he would be
justified. However, the point that she could have endangered the other passengers by distracting the driver is valid. My gut instinct would have been to thrown her stupid *** off the bus and left but that would only have created more problems. Calling the police (with whom I would guess she is on a first name basis with) would have been the best thing to do.

I wasn't justifying anything. I just think it would be humorous if people that would have trouble handling the lady in the video were sitting here claiming the guy trying to do his job should simply hold her down.
It definitely wasn't smart for him to hit her, and though it's impossible to know from the video, what he did looked excessive. I certainly wouldn't have hit her, but I'm fortunate enough that I have never, ever had to deal with a woman acting like that. If a woman started acting one tenth that crazy around me, I would be be away from her before she got to half that crazy. More than that, I'm lucky enough to generally spend my time around people that rightfully consider it shameful for a woman to act like that and to not have a ****** job that would force me to be around women like that. It's highly, highly unlikely that I will ever have to deal with a person like that in a situation that I can't walk away from. So it'd be pretty ballsy for me (and most likely 99% of the people on this board) to sit here and judge the guy for not just holding her down. It'd be ballsy and funny if the people judging him wouldn't even be able to handle the woman in a fight, much less hold her down without her beating the crap out of them.

The thing that kills me about the video is she is acting like a bad mother17er and talking **** while everyone on the bus is laughing and having a good time. She hits him and a "Oooooooo" could be heard from the peanut gallery. She is looking like a bad *** now, but when he gets up and hits her everyone (including her) is shocked, SHOCKED I tell you.... "she is a 17ing female" can be heard from the crowd. Everyone on that bus was expecting him to take that ****... I'm glad he didn't.

^^^This^^^ I'm guessing a lot of the people claiming the guy should have taken the high road don't have to deal with anything like this. You can't hold people to the rules of civil society when they don't get to deal with people that are civil. A man should never initiate physical violence with a woman. Even when she's crossed way beyond the point at which a man would get an *** kicking, it's just a line that isn't crossed in civil society. But if a woman wants to be violent and you can't easily restrain her, she's the one that has taken the situation out of the rules of civil society and it's better for her to be treated accordingly.

i'm not saying I would have hit her. and I'm also not saying that she didn't deserve it. people appear to be pretty black or white on whether they would hit a woman. i'm not sure i'm in either school. i kinda think there's a situation where either response is valid.
