Better slot WR: Jameon or Bumphis?

This has become a closer race. Jameon is coming on, his hands were a great
liability but he seems to be improving and if he can keep the turf monster from tripping him all the time we may see him take several to the house next year. Both are good but I think Jameon is going to end up being better overall.

I think Jameon has proven to be a better slot receiver. He is more elusive whereas Bumphis was a little bit more reliable.
I feel like Bumphis was better at making people miss in space and better hands, but less of a big play threat. Lewis, like you said, is improving and seems to be able to find holes in zones down the field better than Bumphis.
Very close, but I think I'd go with Lewis as well. Mainly because I expect very big things from him next year assuming Dak can stay healthy.

completely agree...he had control and catching issues in the past but he's cleaned it up nicely; I love Bump's hands but Lewis has better moves/elusiveness IMO.
Sad to think we could've had them both going this last season if we'd redshirted Bumphis in '09. Hope we aren't thinking the same thing about Shumpert in a few years.

If Bumphis was a half step quicker he would have made a 53 man roster. You can teach a man to catch, you can't teach him to have Lewis' speed.
Bumphis against elite defenses, Jameon against mediocre ones. I'm not sure there is anything stopping Jameon from overtaking Bumphis altogether, but he has to do it next season before I'd take him over Bumphis.
I think it's Jameon and it isn't really close. Better hands and gets 10x more separation. I think that it's b/c of his better quickness coming out of breaks. It was easy to see that our offense was more dynamic with Jameon in the slot regardless of the constant flux of MSU Qbs due to injury in 2013. I don't mean that as a slight and Bump either. He had a really good career at MSU. I just think Jameon is a better athlete with the ball in his hands and opposing defenses fear him more.
I'm thinking Bump, due to the fact that Lewis falls down after the catch more than me on a 4th of July weekend. Most of the time on returns, he doesn't get tackled as much as he falls down making a move when the defense gets close. Both are really good receivers tho.
I'll go Jameon. Bumphis had a good senior year, but he never really got that much better. Jameon is way more versatile as well. We saw Bump try to throw passes and run and they never worked. Jameon seems to be a better route runner as well. Bump was good at the option route and slants. Jameon does have better WRs around him when Bump was our only weapon at WR. It's close, but I'll take Jameon.
In a foot race, pretty sure they would be close to even. Don't think Jameon is slow, but he isn't 4.3-4.4 fast. Shifty and elusive, VERY. Blazing fast...no. I'd give him 4.5ish which insidently is what Chad ran.
And in this argument give me Chad. Are we all forgetting what Chad had to work with at QB, being double and triple teamed because he was the ONLY threat on offense?? IMO Chad was capable of his SR year numbers the previous years...we just didn't have any QBs or system to get him the ball consistently.
