and it would the shot heard round the country.<div>
</div><div>Notre Dame would need to be lured in under the pretense of power. They keep their NBC contract. They keep all their bowl tie-ins outside the BCS. The Big East gets to keep its BCS bid due to Notre Dame. Notre Dame gets to beat up on the 5 teams left. They keep a bigger share of the money - other Big East teams just have to get over it - may as well call it the Big Irish Conference - but it keeps the likes of Louisville and Cincy alive and not in CUSA part II. A win win for everyone. And **** they already play in that conference for other sports.</div><div>
</div><div>OK, 6 team conference too few teams? Add Army and Navy, they are in the East and they play Notre Dame anyway. That would give them 7 league games. 5 spots left to play whoever they want, I assume USC would always be there. They seem to play Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue and Stanford every year too. Some of that would have to give. They get to beat up on lowly Big East teams, surely that would appeal to their rebuilding process. They are already starting to water down their schedule as it is. </div><div>
</div><div>Big East should throw everything possible to make this genius idea happen.</div>

While they could cement their conference with the football team, they are like Texas and better off w/o them and their arrogance in my opinion.

What you are spelling out is the exact grievance the big 12 schools have with Texas.

All the big schools have already jumped in the Big East. They are still trying to salvage a respectable conference for the Big 12. <div>And nothing really changes.....Big East still has a BCS bid, and Notre Dame is still basically independent. You can't tell me Rutgers, UConn, L'ville, Cincy and South Florida wouldn't be better off just be being attached to Notre Dame. And the money would be better than some C-USA level garbage conference.</div><div>
</div><div>Basically that 'situation' is a step up for the Big East teams and a step down for the Big 12 teams.</div>

One problem though. Notre Dame has 0 interest in being anything other than an independent in football. Orangebloods (which has a pretty good track record at being right about these things) is reporting that Notre Dame is considering joining the Big 12 in all sports other than football. Basically, trading their Big East deal forthe sameBig 12 deal.

Texas has been relevant in the last 20 years. ND is Boise State, except Boise beats the two decent teams they play all year.
