for the hit on the Georgia QB in the SEC Title game. Mike Slive followed this announcement with a simple "Roll Tide, mother *******."

it was a judgement call...

certainly could have been flagged for "hittin' too hard" (maybe unnec. roughness)....

a very poor judgement call. He should have been suspended for the entire national championship game. Of course, the decision comes as no surprise whatsoever.

do they often suspend guys for Unec Roughness in college?

i honestly don't know.

I'm also curious if a "defender/tackler" can be considered a "defenseless" player... if so, he should have been suspended...

I'm certainly no bama fan and I was cheering for UGA in that game, but that was not an illegal hit. It was the type of hit that a lot of defensive players live for. The QB had just thrown an INT and he was moving torward the play. Now, he wasn't about to make a play on the DB but he was moving in that direction. I felt like it was a cheap shot that certainly was uncalled for, but it was not illegal and therefore did not warrant a suspension.

I cant deny it was "cheap/unnec", but I don't know he was trying to "injure"...

If he had, Murrary, if alive, would still be in a coma...

Ya gotta keep your head on a swivel on returns and coverage defense.

I think a lot has be lost on the "legality" of the hit...

It wasn't a defenseless player and he didn't lead with the crown of the helmet...

it was just unecc, IMO... I wouldn't have had a problem with a 15 yard penalty, but I don't think it was a suspendible (sp) action based on the rules and precedent.
