Not true...I think we learned this year that what the committee says and what they do are not to be believed

Don't kid yourself...it matters
We don’t know why the committee left us out, but I am pretty certain B1G performance in the tournament from different years was not a huge factor.

I do generally root for the teams in our conference unless I have a specific reason to root for their opponents, but it’s a lot like rooting for our non-conference opponents during the season. It certainly can’t hurt, but it’s not a hugely important factor either way.

Deepest? Ah, no.
In raw #s, probably. The 13th best Big Ten team was almost certainly better than the 13th best team from any other conference. In terms of percentage, I’d give the edge to the Big 12 in nearly everything this year, but the B1G is still #2.

At the end of the day the selections are made by human beings. Human beings are influenced from reading / seeing overwhelming comments over the course of the year that suggest that the Big Ten is overrated.

If we already had a few teams in the sweet 16, and Purdue wasn't bounced by a 16...I would agree it doesn't matter.

We needed to ensure the b1g wasn't shut out of the sweet 16

Acc performance last year and in other years matter especially with UNC AD Bubba on the selection committee

I'm just waiting for Indiana to lose tonight so that we can hear the narrative again that Big Ten teams do poorly in the NCAA Tourney because they are only used to "big ten referees" all season...even though Jeffrey Anderson and DJ Carstensen are on the game.
I’m still waiting for someone to explain why these things apply to the tournament but not to the non conference games in November and December.

But it's the 3rd guy who's screwing IU on the calls...lol

Btw...I think DJ is the best ref in the B1G. Of course he misses calls but on the whole I find him to be an excellent ref.

Fluoxetine working out his models to show how Big Ten having one team in sweet 16 is actually 2.4 more than expected.

Expected was like 1.79. So worse than expected. But in terms of the actual games played better than expected. Purdue losing is kind of like missing the front end of a 1 in 1 in that respect.

Wait the 4th ranked BIG team beat the Big East Champs. A team Rutgers beat. Yeah the BiG is overrated. Deepest conference of quality teams by far.
Seriously?

Given the events of this week any B10 fan who suggests judging the merits of any conference by the success or lack thereof of that conference’s champion has accomplished nothing other than a major self-own.

If you are resorting to decimal points you’ve already lost. 22 years and counting.

Yes...you absolutely have the freedom of choice to root for things that hurt the school you root for

Congratulations genius
Hate to break it to you, but the Elite 8 could have been all Big10 this year, and next year a 9th place mediocre Rutgers team that finishes the season in free fall still ain’t making the tournament.

I would hope the Big Ten is the deepest league.
We have 14 dam teams (soon to be 16).
It would defy odds for only a couple tes to be good.

Does anyone else besides the SEC come close to 14 teams?

ACC has 15 teams.

What defies odds is that with 14 teams, our 2nd to worst team would be considered a middle of the pack team in most non-Big 12 power conferences (not quite in the SEC either, but they are clearly better than the bottom four).
