I get that you are in Tuscon and UofA is no. 1 there for course. But do you think there are more UofA or AZstate fans in the state? Phoenix metro is 5 times the pop of Tuscon metro.. right?..
Here in Tucson, the debate seems to be whether the UofA and ASU will continue to stay together. Both school presidents are indicating that they will, that they are "tight." But then the UofA president is saying that there is necessarily nothing that requires them to stay together. There is speculation that the UofA is more interested in jumping to the B12 than ASU is.

That's not a conference that's a globe. If the strings start to come apart for the ACC, the B1G will start to make their move... Targeting UNC, Duke, GT, Miami, FSU in the east; Stanford, ASU, Oregon, Washington in the west and looking to eventually pressure Notre Dame to join and try to steal the AAU schools from the SEC.
you lost us at 'academic juggernauts'So, I’m going to throw something out there, does anyone actually think any of these PAC 12 teams really want to be part of the Big 12? Even Colorado?
There are tons of Big 12 fans all over YouTube and social media circle jerking about Colorado joining. I don’t see it unless the PAC 12 media deal is epically bad. Does anyone think these schools, which are mostly academic juggernauts, in some of the most beautiful and populated locations in America (Cali, AZ, Wash, Ore) want to join up with dumb dumb schools in the likes of Lubbock, TX, Waco, and Manhattan, KS?
I say this as an ex-east coaster who lives in Texas.
No way in hell AZ, ASU, CU are joining the Big 12 unless they can earn at least an extra 10 million a year by making the move.
I've said this many times and it's not just PAC schools. Most schools don't want to move and that includes ACC schools, USC, UCLA, Texas, OU etc..since the start of realignment 20 years ago. They only move because they feel forced to due to financial circumstances. So, I’m going to throw something out there, does anyone actually think any of these PAC 12 teams really want to be part of the Big 12? Even Colorado?

I hope in that big mess of possibilities, no more than two wind up in the big ten.If the strings start to come apart for the ACC, the B1G will start to make their move... I think that's what the B1G is envisioning lolThat's not a conference that's a globe.
where the hell do you come up with this stuffCan’t take article serious if the writer dosent even know we were next in line. In fact Nebraska took our spot.
Maryland was not the choice until the ACC rolled into Pennsy.

I'm fine with a few more schools, but rather see a few names from SEC (namely Texas, Oklahoma, Florida) and maybe just Duke/Carolina from ACC. And would love West Virginia and Louisville due to our past history with them but that's obviously not happening haha.I hope in that big mess of possibilities, no more than two wind up in the big ten.
And I don't even need any of them to happen and would be happy as is
Me, I prefer to play the traditional big ten teams as much as possible, and to get good enough to be better than .500 along the way.
I know that is a tough road but the way to go imo
IMO, the move that most protects RU with the original big ten is to add two of Oregon, Cal, and Stanford
Any future pods would keep us close to what we have now, maybe a flip of a team or two, but still with the traditional teams
I don't want a pod with a combo of old big east and middling ACC teams despite it being an easier road. Many will disagree, but this is not the big ten dream
Miami and Utah don't make a ton of sense but the others sure
Every fan base has some members who embrace their own little preferred narrative, according to which the B1G and every other conference was desperate to add their school since the year Jesus was born...where the hell do you come up with this stuff
just don't post on this
As an ASU alum and Sun Devil fan (Hawkeye/Big10 fan by birth) I just don't see any desire by the administration, alumni or the huge Phoenix power brokers to go to the Big 12. ASU has done everything in their power to ditch the party school image and climb the academic ladder. It's sad and I miss the absolute insanely fun shitshow that was ASU and the corresponding explosive Phoenix/Valley growth gold rush. They are tied at the hip to So Cal and even with SC and UCLA in the B1G they will continue to covet that So Cal connection.A B1G league would absolutely want a flagpole in Florida for numerous reasons (population, recruiting, etc…)
Besides UFlorida, Miami is the best option from B1G’s academic/research wants. Especially since they just became AAU
Biggest city in 2nd largest state, with many new demos for B1G. High percentage of B1G alumni also live in southern Florida.
uMiami still pulls big ratings and would be TV-additive for a new deal. Their past national championships and national fanbase help too
As a traveling conference/league, having a major airport nearby has also become important
uMiami may have been a hesitation before without AAU. But now that they just obtained it, they’ve moved into no-brainer status
Utah, I agree however. Their state’s population of 3M is just too small
Yes, that is all true. I've been surprised to see the UofA be in the realignment discussion more than ASU but that might more due to the president of each. But everyone is still waiting for the Pac12 TV negotiations to finally come up with something. It's been months and still nothing. If that is a disaster, I think ASU will become a hot commodity, especially for the B12, which doesn't have many big markets outside of Texas.I get that you are in Tuscon and UofA is no. 1 there for course. But do you think there are more UofA or AZstate fans in the state? Phoenix metro is 5 times the pop of Tuscon metro.. right?
I'd guess UofA is better academics based on AzState being famous for partying... but I don't know.
Still.. for ad rev purposes and ratings, I'd think adding AzState is better if you have the choice of only one.
Yea that didn’t really come off right.where the hell do you come up with this stuff

you have zero idea what you are talking about. You should not post on thisYea that didn’t really come off right.
We were in line before Nebraska came calling...NOPE
After that we needed a partner. ND turned it down so Maryland was it....NOPE
The part about the BIG feeling threatened was just a dig by Delaney. I know I read it but can’t find the quote....NOPE
More better?
I agree that going for academics over athletics is best for long term thinking. Give me Stanford and Notre Dame and call it a day. Or if we need two more, add Cal and Washington. You can always upgrade your football program with the right coach. Enhancing your academic prestige takes much longer.B1G has a vision to be NFL Lite
And more importantly, to do so as a D1 Ivy League of all-AAU schools. Academics, research, hospital, plus great sports
Amazingly, it’s within sight
But you NEED to expand for 3 reasons
1) push back on SEC/ESPN
2) fill the inventory slots for Fox / NBC / CBS and a streamer (ie Amazon) exactly like NFL
3) Have the unquestioned Academic prestige over any other conference/league
4) Your only chance of getting snob Notre Dame to join is by making an elite league of AAU with their rivals. President Jenkins wants the prestige, especially after just now getting AAU themselves
All 10 of these candidates are AAU with great academics / research / hospitals. Most have great markets & populations too
Longterm, Rutgers wants to be in the D1 Ivy League. Rutgers wants a seat at the college football mega/ratings league. Expansion is part of that to secure it for generations forward

Jim Delaney and Tim Pernetti have said this publically. There is a podcast out there see if you can find it. He’s right, Rutgers was next not Marylandwhere the hell do you come up with this stuff

Dade County is 2.6mm. That’s what many would consider “Miami.”
Kinda feel bad for the pricks, like that, who populate this board. Going through life, with such poor social skills, must be an onerous chore.I guess you know best.Everything ever said, written, quotes in the paper, insights from connected alums all bull sh##.
If you say so!
Seems like you say that to a lot of people around here. At least I’m in good company.
Nice to have to a local know it all to tell people they’re wrong with 0 insights.
Thanks for sharing.
