Big time recruit deciding Friday - State or LSU

Bias aside, I don't see how kids like this don't choose us from LSU when it's between the 2. He'd come in and be already towards the top of our depth chart but there he'd be one of a dozen 4 or 5 star D linemen. In addition, we have a great position coach for him, and our facilities come December are going to be cream of the crop. Hope he comes to MSU.
Even at schools like LSU or Bama. Up to this point, they've dominated every level of play that they've encountered and they expect to do the same in college and eventually the pros. It's all they know and they couldn't care less if there were 2 or 20 other 5* guys already committed. They think they'll be better than any of them. On top of that, 99% of the recruitment process is nothing but a giant ego boost for these kids so often times, it just makes matters worse. I doubt there's a coach in the country telling a 5* guy, "Hey, we'd love to have you but it'll probably be three years before you see the field".
Anyway, it sucks because a lot of great players have gotten buried at big schools, but the opposite is probably true in many case as well. I'm sure there have been plenty of cases where a kid would have had a lot more success with talent around them than going to a smaller school where they're "the man".

think the sales pitch that LSU, BAMA, and other elites are pitching is "hey come here and you have instant credibility with the NFL that you have great potential. We will develop<div>you and you won't get worn out in the process because you will only have to play about a third of the game, exerting maximum effort and making big plays and then you will move on to the NFL".</div>
the guys that are thecream of the crop, allegedly, believe they will be the best wherever they go. They don't see the depth chart as an obstacle. Frankly, no player should have that mindset. If you have a player that is going in and right off the bat they don't think they are the best, they're going to have some major hurdles to clear down the road.

He's been to our campus 6 or 7 times, which is more than any other and his good friend Applewhite just signed with our basketball team, so I wouldn't say I would be surprised if he picked us. Don't get me wrong, I don't think we can take whoever we want from LSU but for this guy definitely have a shot.
