Giants chances over the Phillies. Braves scare me more than the Phillies do. To answer your question Flab, the winning league of the All-Star game is awarded home field for the World Series. Huge advantage for the National League. Giants probably don't win the World Series last year without home field. This is the second year that the winner gets home field and the second year in a row the National League has won.

is the only real representative game of the actual League, as a whole, and it decides which league get home field advantage in World Series, I think its a big deal. Baseball is the only sport where you can bring in players from multiple teams, put them on the field, and the teams appear that they've been playing together all season. Baseball is same, no matter who is playing it, only the strategy changes. They don't need to practice together to play well together. Which IMO, makes the baseball all star game the only one that is worth a 17.

To get the best players for the most part in one stadium going head to head.

Baseball does their All-Star Game better than any other league. It certainly generates more discussion than any other All-Star game.

Biggest thing I would change about it is make the home run derby a LOT shorter and kill off Chris Berman. And then just have a straight up old timer's game without the celebrities. I think it would be cool to have the old timer's play after the Futures Game. Kind of a future meets the past kind of deal. Plus, having the celebrity softball game after the home run derby is simply too much for one day.

The only thing that compares to the home run derby is the NBA slam dunk contest.

It's NOT the best players from each league always. It's the MOST POPULAR players who sometimes happen to be the best players, but often USED to be the best players at their positions. I'd like to see the fan vote not have as much determination in who makes the All-stars

did not bat. I'd say Pujols and Tiexera (spelling) both definitely deserved to be there. Rolen should of been replaced by Pujols imo. Was Victor Martinez there? If not he deserved it over Russell Martin. Mike Morse should of been there. Haramis Ramirez (spelling) over Rolen again.

to be a showcase for the most popular. So, I don't have a problem with the most popular guys going.
