It’s just UNC’s AD using it to get some buzz going as they await the answer from the Tulane coach. Bubba leaked it to InsideCarolina and then the big national guys were crediting InsideCarolina with the scoop while reaching millions of folks on social media. Tulane coach is their #1 target followed by Georgia DC, Memphis coach, and Liberty coach.

Actually pretty smart and it worked. All over the media yesterday on a slow sports day. Sunrall would be a huge get.

Those are all good candidates. Need a different direction in CH. Unfortunately football isn't the only sport with issues.

Correct. I think UNC (basketball) thought they could entice these kids with the brand and low ball on NIL and they are quickly realizing that isn’t the way. Mack said the new coach will have 12M to work with and I expect the basketball team to have a much bigger NIL presence moving forward.

Mike Jordan could take a weeks worth of shoe profit and fund the entire NIL for UNC

Supposedly the Michigan QB recruit got $10.5 million, though that’s for four years. Twelve won’t go very far. I’ve stopped watching any games other than a bowl game for UNC. Almost weaned completely off it after sixty years.

Ryan Day said this year’s roster was 20 million for OSU. 12M should be able to field a decent team, especially in the ACC. You’re not gonna have a team full of NFL draft picks but that is where coaching comes in. Will be fascinating to see how it works out for UNC in 2025. Tulane plays tonight, I think we can have an announcement over the weekend.

And that 20 million will have Day in the offensive coordinator position at Oklahoma or Clemson next year.

Please no to Belichick. We don't need another washed up coach.

Idk why, we hardly win bowl games. Just start watching the FCS warmup game so you can see the Heels win more often 😂

Tar Heel alum with some past association with the football program. Still love the Heels. My resistance is to the state of college athletics in general, not so much UNC. Had season tickets in the 1-10 years and can stand losing. Just can’t stomach the me first, where’s my money attitudes (coaches included).

I agree with ocdavis31 completely, but the Heels still need a coach. They made a huge mistake in bringing Mac Brown back. There's no way of knowing where the team would be today if they had hired a young, energetic coach. I know everyone talked of Mac's prowess for recruiting but take a strong look at the type of players he recruited. Don't go by the number of "stars" a player has been assigned, they are misleading. Look at Dez Evans, how many tackles did he have in his career, maybe 40? Belichek is old and washed up! Don't make the same mistake again!

I didn’t like the hire at the time but the program had won 5 games combined the two years prior to Mack 2.0. Recruiting overall was down but primarily in NC as Fedora abandoned the state in addition to funding/attendance severely lacking. Mack came in, immediately took the team to a bowl, recruited the state and upgraded the facilities to P5 standards. With that being said, did he underachieve with the talent he brought in? Lordy, yes. Both can be true. Defense was a mess and he squandered away opportunities with Howell/Drake/Hampton etc. I still don’t believe this Belichek stuff but knowing how the UNC board of trustees roll, nothing would surprise me. If they go this route, I just pray they were told no by the Iowa St HC, Tulane HC, UGA DC, Liberty HC and at least 15 more folks.

Mac was 46-52 in his second stint at UNC. Players love Mac. He has value however his lack of developing a physical type of play isn’t going to win many championships.

The funny thing is his first UNC tenure was more about defensive success. He recruited very well and just could not beat Florida State (neither could anyone else except the Barber twins at UVA and Tory Holt at NCSU)

This time around his Qbs were more the story and the defense was a complaint point the whole time. Strange how things stay the same (recruiting success on paper) but are so different on the field of play

I l say hire Belichick and find a young coach and let him learn .Bill knows how to win he will find a QB and anybody that knows a thing about football knows he can build a defence .plus when Bill comes after a player I dought they will say no ,this is a new world in college football I would give Bill a chance plus there is no comparison between him and coach Brown compare there resumes

He has never coached in college so it’s hard to compare resumes. What was Bill record coaching without Tom Brady. It was 83-101 and with Brady it was 249-75. Dealing with kids is way different than dealing with NFL players.

Belichick will only take the UNC job if his son (Defensive Coordinator at Washington) will be name the Head Coach in waiting. UNC needs to make a homerun hire and don't think Belichick is the homerun hire they need.

The head coach in waiting rumor has been debunked, but we’ll see. The article that came out today states the head of the Board of Trustees is pushing for Bill. No one knows who’s running the show, which is a pretty big problem.

Do Matt Clausen and Jimmy Goropollo count? The Patriots kept winning without Tom when he was injured every time until he left for the Bucs and they really had to start from scratch because all their dynasty players were gone at that point...
Matt Clausen? You mean Matt Cassel. Cassel went 11-5 that one year but NE missed the playoffs. Made a lot money because of that one year. Fun fact about Cassel he never started a game at QB in college at USC.

I can picture Bill and sweet thang all bundled up at their cozy Carrboro casa , house plants adorning the windows of the south side of the estate as to capture the optimum Blessing of sunlight, pictures of Tom Brady on damn near every wall, larger than average painted pictures of her parents hangin' on the door of the washroom, , but about eight PM, Bill starts to nod off after consuming maybe too much Geritol, while sweet thang is itchin' to hit up a Franklin Street dance hall while all the adoring admirers are desiring to accompany her in the latest dance moves.
