I think the guy I was responding to was saying not landing stokes was a blessing in disguise
He's saying Stokes is going to be a problem child.

I don't know a whole lot about him, but I wouldn't be surprised, based on the drama of the recruitment, if he ends up opting out at some point, or following in Peterson's footsteps and playing only when he wants to play.

But, I'd rather have him and hope he's a competitor and wants to win. I just don't get the feeling he cares about winning.

Not surprising. Very few of these guys know when to hang it up. It’s part of the narccissitic personality seen in most successful coaches.
Yep. It’s ASPD. They actually have the same traits a lot of psychopathic people have but they’re raised better and don’t have them all.

But They only care about themselves and their success, name, brand etc. everyone of them could be at the beach with their grandkids teaching them and being with family in their final years. Instead the choose the recruiting trail. It’s why they’re successful, but it’s also why they’re not all right.

I see people like this in my profession a lot in different walks. They use the ā€œI just like to workā€ excuse a lot, but there’s no person who doesn’t have those traits that pick a bunch of strangers and people there just to CYA and get what you have over their own children and grandchildren. You can’t have it both ways. I stay away from ASPD and NPD because it dosnt help anyone in brief allotted time but it’s definitely traits you see more and more. NPD and traits are absolutely one of the biggest epidemics today it’s insane. Started with the boomers (not all). Just that generation is when it really took off.

Wonder if that's due to the laissez-faire parenting style of the Greatest Generation that indulged them quite a bit.

Welp, that pretty much seals our fate with not landing Stokes.

Kentucky will not have an incoming Mickey D (if you count the Garrison transfer) for the first time since...2007? Is that correct?

Pope is absolutely horrific at his job.
Pope gonna win with the Burger King all americans

Yeah, they struggle as posters with their crappy takes. They'd be the guys telling knock-knock jokes as Noah's Ark slams its doors shut in their faces and the first ripples of rain come falling down around them.

Some fans never notice disaster, even when the program they claim to love is becoming Indiana right before their eyes.
They both are the worst type of fans. They are fan of the coaches. It could be a little understandable if he was remotely a good coach.

A parent of one of the top players in the country (not basketball) once told me that every coach he had interactions with were basically terrible people. He had absolutely nothing good to say about any high level college coach. These weren't comments based on hard feeling either, because his son was extremely successful.

Y'all are gonna be a miserable lot until next week. I'll still be a fan. The bandwagon only fans who like a team when they are up I could care less about. From 99 to 2012, with the sec not being great most of y'all couldn't handle it, and we didn't do that great. Before this year it was about the portal not about freshmen. I need to stay off boards and Facebook because bandwagon fans are making us look worse than what we are.

If we fire pope and they get someone who is winning like 8 a year I'm gonna be mad at the bandwagon fans for not being reasonable is all. Cal was good when hired here, pope has had alot of injuries and he has to deal with nil which is new and having to prioritize certain players over others. He didn't so a good job last year. I still think with the portal there is still hope
He can't get good players for the same money as others are offering. I great coach at a blue blood should be able to get similar players for less money. He has to pay way more to get the same. In some cases they won't come play for us no matter what we pay more than others. It is simple enough even our dumb dumb's like you should understand this.

Stokes is from Kentucky so if he goes Kansas we will see him years from now.

You do not turn on Kentucky if you were born here.
That's RULE 1.

But of course there is RULE 2:

"Somebody that was born in Loserville IS not from Kentucky, they're from Virginia"

FACTS.

Kansas sounds bout right.

Indiana hasn't made a deep run since the early 2000s and they had a championship football team. Our fans are just spoiled and don't remember Billy g or tubby years
Indiana doesn't watch basketball like we do. Hell pope did something cal didn't do in a long time his first year and beat duke.
It hasn't been great but y'all act like we had Kenny payne two years in a row..
We're spoiled for wanting way better than past 2 years? Call it what you want but we expect banners and not finish 10th in sec or lose double digit games.. Loser..

I can see why people want the number 1 class. But go look up the transfer rankings for the last few championship teams. you'd be hard pressed to find a lot in the top 25. I think Uconn had 1 guy in top 10. some of them aren't even on the rankings lol.

It’s funny you say that, because it’s probably exactly what it is. The greats were wonderful, but they let their guard down parenting. They had it bad and wanted their kids to have it a little too easy. And it’s caused some issues. Great great generation though, miss those people. There will never be another generation like the greats.

Yea they’re all basically psychopathic style individuals that were raised to stay out of trouble. Most people with ASPD traits end up in prison due to raising. College basketball coaches and football coaches had parents that had good teaching skills but the traits are there. Tubby was as good as you’re going to get at genuinely a non psychopathic guy winning in this sport, but he didn’t make it either. He wasn’t able to be the part.

It’s also why Mark won’t make it it’s one of the reasons I know it.

With Stokes Kansas has 5 freshman coming in - 3 are basically the same position as Stokes at the 2 or 3 spot. Look for a couple current JayHawks to Portal out now.
Colorado had 3 starters not play tonight in Vegas - all averaging in double figures including Johnson plus a 7 footer.
Spend the $tokes $$ on 3 studs like Oscar & OO & Cats will be just fine next year

As a boomer I somewhat agree and somewhat disagree. The boomers stretch from those born from 1946 until 1964. There was a real change in our society beginning in 1964 with the British invasion, the Vietnam War and the loosening of long held mores and traditions. I was born in 1946 and was graduating high school when this started and was little affected by it. i had a sibling born two years later who also was little affected by it. But those who started high school in 1964 really were affected by those changes. Another sibling born 14 years after me in 1960 and still a boomer had a totally different upbringing. Just the changes and expectations of students were worlds apart. The paddle was always a threat in the lower grades and liberally applied. Dismissal from school was a given with certain violations. Later students were given ā€œrightsā€. I would bet that most on this board would favor this change but it does lead to prioritizing the individual over society as a whole. I can say that I certainly had no indulgent upbringing.

For sure there are going to be individual differences, but it's interesting to note. My parents were Boomers and they weren't selfish at all. But years of working with the public, I can tell you it been overwhelmingly that age group that seem to have the narcissistic tendencies. Personally had a client basically get upset I took time off for my mom's funeral and passing. My manager at the time basically told him to shove it and go elsewhere. Not shockingly in that age group, and also not shockingly had been a problem client before that.

That being said, I've met plenty of Boomers that I've enjoyed talking with, were respectful, and willing to learn new tech and ideas.

I despise IU, but with that statement you cemented your ignorance. More FF ticket applications are submitted from the state of Indiana annually than any other state. I’m dating myself, but I went to the FF in New Orleans in 1992: UK, UNC, KU, and Michigan. It was obvious UK had the most fans but guess whose fan base was clearly second? Indiana.

There was a time at family gatherings, everyone knew you did not talk much about religion and politics; both subjects that had everyone taking sides.
People see things differently even though it is the same thing they are looking at. Is the glass half full or half empty?

I am a early 50's boomer. I have worked all my life to give my family the best of what I could. I have worked odd jobs, two jobs, retired from Ford after 35 years, built a nice business and during my journey, I came across people from all ranks of life.

I learned long ago that each age group sees and does things differently. It is that journey that people learn what to keep doing, what to stop doing and what they need to start doing better.

In all this, there I sone thing that us boomers can all say that the younger generation can not explain:
Back in my early days, men lied about their age to go fight in WW2.
Today, men lie about their masculinity so they can go play with girls.

Boomers, we may have our faults, but being a sissy wasn't one of them.

But that's what you guys want though, right? You want him to fail, so the best way for that to happen, is for Pope to not get him.
