Let's visit this comment by Dunlap again ....
If you want to go look at my cell phone records you can, I don’t need to hide from it. The conversation happened the day he (Stewart) was driving to the airport from the high school coaches convention in Pittsburgh. He was on his way to Orlando. (WVU assistant coach) Dave McMichael was in the car with him. The conversation happened.

Not only did Stew not deny. DAVE MCMICHAEL never uttered a word to the contrary either.

Dave .... you really should come back and retract your statement about "morons."

So now McMichael is in on it.

So it's Clements, Luck, Dunlap, Casazza, and McMichael, and whoever is Dunlap's cell phone carrier....so probably Verizon.

Gentlemen, this goes to the very top.

OK Dave .... do you see how you are acting?

You are acting just like Stew did when his hand was caught in the cookie jar.
He stood there in silence just hoping that it would go away.

I never got real upset over what Stewart did. I gave most of the blame to Luck. When you put a guy in that position, the outcome is predictable.

One of my friends, not a WV fan, brought up an interesting point......What happens if Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson find out about Bill's comments at VMI.....will the Exit receive another name????

I wasn't upset with Stew. But I was disappointed.

I always liked Stew and I was certainly not one of his detractors. But his last season I did conclude it was time for a change. Ollie should have handled it differently. And frankly, Stew should have gotten an attorney and worked out a settlement before the HCIW thing unfolded. But he tried to take things into his own hands and save his job by appealing to some people in the press he mistakenly thought were his friends as much, or more, than they were reporters. That was his mistake and the rest is history.

Dave .... see how our memory can be selective?
See how we can remember things the way we want to remember them even if our recollection is detached from reality?

Dave .... why the silence?

I'm not and wasnt for/against Bill Stewart. I think of him like I think of all the head coaches at WVU (except the Dick) in that they get paid big $$$$ and got a better deal than anyone else if they lose their job.

Still Bill was a career assistant who got his supposed dream head coaching job. Good story.

I will say I don't get naming an exit to a baseball stadium after Stewart or any other football coach. Honestly this is pretty over the top IMO. Name it Granville since that's where you head to or University Town Center.

This is over the top and honestly just wierd.

it is weird and bizarre. Naming an exit after a coach who was fired just shows what a complete circus this program has become. It's no wonder Rodriguez and Luck left. There are obviously too many chiefs and not enough Indians meddling in this athletic dept. And none of them are in agreement with one another.

Stew won the Fiesta Bowl with Rod's team.
Holgs won Orange Bowl with Stew's team.

Will Holgs get an exit name after him?

If it's not too late .... this project needs to be abandoned.

If we have another Hall of Fame football coach who puts in two decades, more or less, then name something after him..

inexperienced AD? Luck, along with Fred schaus, were the 2 best AD's WVU ever had lol. It was the right move to make. Those who disagree don't have a clue.
"Those who disagree don't have a clue." Now there is a character telling statement if I ever heard one. Your view is your view, and absolutely nothing more than that. At least Bill Stewart has something named after him. What will your name be on after your gone? A bathroom wall, that you put there yourself?

I heard that the next resolution to be introduced will be to erect a statue of Don Knotts at Mylan Puskar.

My guess is that the average West Virginia legislator has a memory as selective as Dave's.

And likewise, you can always count on Punisher to spout off and attacking anyone who opposes his/her views. Like I said, Stew's name will be on an exit and you will have yours on an rest stop wall. That is sort of like an exit I guess.

Naming a Exit to memorialize coach Bill Stewart is strange. Whats next naming a Weight Station "The Bob Huggins Weight Station" or how about a "Rich Rodriguez Escape Ramp" bunch of silliness coming outta the state capital.

Naming interchanges and bridges after notable locals is nothing new.

You know what else is not new?

Someone who called people morons when in fact they were the one who actually had things very wrong saying something like, "I guess I was the one full of myself."

Morgantown should start naming Stop Signs after good defensive football and basketball players .... The Jevon Carter Stop Sign!

And then lines on the highway can be named after offensive and defensive linemen. I'm sure the possibilities are endless and I am sure that The WV legislature has nothing better to do.

who attacked who in this thread? Yep, that's you, good ole trustew the hypocrite. Since you went there, I've got an idea. In your memory, we can have a tribute to you; "Slow children playing".

I think there were others in the AD office that were working against Dana and at least one of Dana's friends stirring up rumors about Stew. Luck blew the whole deal but it was time for a change. Also I do our question the legality of Dana's hiring. Was there a search??

Fire away.

legality of Dana's contract?? Here we go as always. Every decision in this AD is met with bogus lawsuits. We are an embarrassment.

Think about it. There are rules about hires of a state job including a search and announcement of openings. I do not know what rules apply to coaches but hiring Dana as the HCIW was done in total secrecy. You can make the rules work to hire who you want, but I'd Luck do it right. I don't know. As a person that worked 35 years in the education system of this state, I know there are some rules that you just can not ignore. Hiring is on of those if someone questions the hire.

i agree. I just meant it was the right move replacing him. Luck was trying to be professional. He offered him a year to go out in style and ease into a $100k a year athletic dept administrative position. That "Nice guy" (Stewart) tried to ruin an innocent mans (Dana) career instead.

If Stewart did those things he should have been fired . Luck was an idiot to pay Stewart the 1mil plus , if he was guilty.

he's a state employee and listed on their web site..He's also the highest paid state employee...when Babe Ruth was asked by a reporter..how do you feel about making more money than the President of the United States?..Ruth said..I had a better year than he did.

So you admittedly don't know the rules but you're making accusations, anyways?

For what?

if that were the case, Fsu's hiring of jimbo Fischer was illegal as hciw. I would like to know why this is illegal? Please explain.

Ole Warez ain't gullible and freely admits that he doesn't know a good coach from a bad coach or a good AD from a bad AD. He also doesn't know what these folks say behind closed doors or when the doors are open for that matter. Most folks tend to rely on the coaches win / loss record but I ain't sure that's the right way to evaluate a coach or AD.

By the way.............do all ex-WVU head coaches have a road or exit near Morgantown named after them? If the answer is NO...................then there must be a lot of guilt among the 'shiny shoes' of the sports world in Morgantown.
