Blacksburg @ Phoebus

Watched film on Blacksburg. They remind me a lot of a school around here called Gloucester. If Phoebus is focused then there is no way they lose this game. Phoebus defense is way too fast and athletic from what I saw of Blacksburg.

I honestly don't know enough about Blacksburg to compare them to anyone that I've seen in this area. I learned over the years not to take anyone for granted and so have the Phoebus players. For the first time in a very long time and i can say that i haven't seen any type trash talk on social media by the Phoebus kids. They remember getting to this point last year and how they weren't as prepared as they needed to be. Blacksburg looks to be well coached based on some of the entire games they have on YouTube. At the end of the day i still have to ride with that stingy Phoebus defense until somebody beat us.

Phoebus fans sound a little too confident. Coleton Beck is not joke and after the Magna Vista game last year, I wouldn't be too cocky.
Coleton Beck is the fastest man in the state, So if he gets any daylight at all, he will not get caught.
Wish people would stop bringing up that Magna Vista game from last year. No team left is as talented or experienced as that Magna Vista team was.
Blacksburg HB looks nice but like I said he hasn't went against a defense like Phoebus.

Phoebus isn't a world beater. Anything can happen.
Staunton River. Laugh all you want. I was hoping you were playing them this week but I had the bracket mixed up. By the way, 3A typically has a team as good as that MV team every year. James Monroe will be back next year, they went 9-3 with a young team this year. Last year's MV team wasn't even as good as the 2014 title team.

I understand yall want Phoebus to lose but stop taking everything I say and turning it into something. I'm not saying Phoebus is invincible...I'm simply saying Blacksburg has not seen a defense like Phoebus has this year.
Right...and last years Phoebus team was nowhere near any of their state championship teams theyve had in the past...if MV played anyone of those state championship Phoebus teams...they lose....and thats a safe bet....We can say all we want but thats why you play the games.....anything can happen...may the best team win!!
I clearly said no team is as experienced or talented as the Magna Vista team....that experience of the deep run in the playoffs meant a lot when coming to Hampton last year for Magna Vista. And I honestly could care less about James Monroe next year, because Phoebus will be better next year than this year.
I want everybody in 3A to lose but Blacksburg.
Can someone break down this Blacksburg team. I think I read an article about this team earlier in the season about going for two after every score or something like that. But also explain their losses etc
OC, Blacksburg started the season doing onside kicks every kick, going for it on 4th down from anywhere on the field with a quick kick on 4th down once in a while. Also only playing kids one way. After a 2-4 start the lights came on and they started playing football. This team should of entered the playoffs at 9-2 at the worst IMO.
I think Blacksburg wins the prize for the longest commute this week. Looks like 4 1/2 to 5 hours?
I am pulling for Staunton River because they have not had a great season that I can remember
I would put Salem (4A), Pulaski Co (4A), and Lord Botetourt (3A) in the class of Phoebus as far a defensive size for opponents that Blacksburg has played this year. Blacksburg lost to Salem which Salem is in the final 4 in 4A playoffs this year! Speed wise I would put Salem over Phoebus and that game resulted in a loss for Blacksburg. However Blacksburg learned from early season mistakes as Phoebus has as well! Very intriguing this matchup to me. I see power vs finesse in this one! I love how Phoebus grinds it's opponents down for 4 quarters and I like how Blacksburg scratches and claws for 4 quarters! I don't have a clear cut winner in this one personally but if I were a coach on either team...it would scare the $#*/ out of me preparing for either! Good luck to all teams this weekend for all divisions...this is what all those young men prepared for during the summer and played their guts out to get to this point! And you guys haven't seen Cole Beck. Better stop him at the line of scrimmage or he is gone. Nobody in the state can run that kid down from behind.
My daughter went to VT- 5 hours between them. Hope for no traffic on 64 between Newport News and Hampton.
I personally happen to be an Alumni of Blacksburg and I have seen film on Phoebus they are a very undiciplined team Blacksburg will be able to beat them with the speed of # 6 Tiquest Terry and # 32 Coleton Beck these kids even though you havent seen them play they are not too be taken lightly . And Did I mention we have a DEFENSE that can Ball with the best of them as well. I say Bring it Phoebus we as Bruin Nation will accept a challenge.

For sure, Wythe will think they have about run out of earth before they get to Sussex High School. It is in the middle of nowhere. I good buddy of mine played football there. I asked him why Sussex always had such good teams. He said, "you've been to Sussex, what else is there to do"? I said, good point.
No disrespect, but Blacksburg would be average in the peninsula district...Phoebus played against d5 and d6 schools with D1 talent and shut them down. I don't think Blacksburg is better than Bethel D5, Hampton D5, Heritage D4 Woodside D6, Phoebus D3 or Warwick D5. Again I've seen film on Blacksburg...they are a good team, but Phoebus will be too much...Everyone will learn that pretty soon...Blacksburg is not a Defending state champ like Magna Vista was either. I can't wait for this game...and when the game is over please dont disappear..keep posting..lol

Not a fan of either school, but I saw the Beck kid from bburg and his speed is at next level, any daylight at all and u will be watching the bottom of his cleats, I've seen some good backs this year and all had good speed but not lk his
Glad to hear that...I can't wait to see what Blacksburg can do against Phoebus.....Teams are averaging just under 7 points against them and thats against top competition from higher classifications. One track star wont do it...MV beat Phoebus with multiple athletes from a defending state championship squad...and yet MV almost lost that one...it was certainly MV toughest game of the year lastyear.....The thing is MV dominated the game for 3 qtrs, up 28 -0 and still almost lost that game....I highly doubt Blacksburg is even in the same class as MV team lastyear and Phoebus return virtually their core players....Phoebus is not invincible like they once was under Coach Dee and coach Sexton but I just dont see them winning unless Phoebus beats themselves....I don't think that will happen...Phoebus 27 - Blacksburg 7

That being said I still think Phoebus wins the game.
Not Hampton, but Woodside. Both teams are in higher classifications and were averaging over 42 points a game. Hampton beat us good, but Blacksburg is not Hampton or Woodside...lol Woodside beat us but only scored 15 points. I give you guys 7 points.....no disrespect...we all have our opinions, but from what I saw on film...we have too many athletes, too much team speed and a good defense to send you guys home.....but anything can happen.... lets just see...lol I can't wait to see this one!!!
