It's sad that a SEC program is this bad at the OT position.

The middle of that line has done pretty good.

How do we as a program seem to get offensive gurus as head coaches, that can't seem to figure out how to scheme up to cover a deficiency?

You can help one OT that needs it. Not sure how you scheme around having two OTs that need help, to say the least. This is a recruiting and development problem. Realistically, it's a development problem, as solid OTs are always going to be at a premium and we're not going to win very many bidding wars in the portal.

The non-blue blood P4 coaches that can figure out how to develop OTs that aren't lured away with a bigger NIL deal after the first season they show promise are going to have earned their money.

Why you think we run the ball 62% of the time? Because we can't pass protect well. But we also just played two of the best pass rushing teams we'll see this year.

This. It’s because they’ve always had elite talent at certain positions that has allowed their specific offense to work. The ones that have done well here are the ones who have done well at other players previously with lesser talent. And those coaches who have been successful at multiple places know how to scheme with deficiencies. In fact they’re used to it. Guys like Morehead and Lebby ect only know one way.

One reason we beat Arizona State was Booth picked up a Defensive End that came in untouched. That was actually the first thing that caught my eye as that play was happening live.

Isn't part of the reason that Shapen holds on to the ball a little because the offensive philosophy is "Score From Far"? I've heard the coaches say it several times. Its a risk you take. I think we need to change it a little until we get some talent and/or experience on the OL but I think that's where its coming from.

I'm no Shapen apologist. He definitely holds onto the ball too long. The 4th down OT play against Tennessee is a great example. He had a guy coming across the goal line if he cuts it loose but he held it and allowed the LB to fill the pass lane and he had to go through the progression.

That said, a lot of the criticism of him is unfair. He's rarely given a chance to throw the ball, and when he does, he's rattled because he's expecting to get hit.

And he’s still pretty good considering all of that

Can you explain this?

Offense has quit on Shapen
The neutral TV announcers said it was because Shapen got mad and yelled at them and then tried to go back and apologize to them….

@bulldoghair you laughing bc you are so dumb?
Your last sentence made me laugh. It was funny.

Btw I don’t see 6 wins. Would be a miracle in my eyes. Before the year I had us going 4-8. After we beat ASU, I had us going 4-0, and then finishing 4-8. We shall see. I’d love to be wrong here.
