Oh I completely agree don't get me wrong all congrats to bland on the season they are having so far I take nothing away from them but I just feel like they will be exposed against Galax. And I cant stand all of this PC bs I was raised to speak my mind no matter who liked it or not and if people get offended by what I say to bad. I don't set out to offend or piss people off but to many people now just cant take the truth or they cant speak there own mind.
That reminds me of some officiating I saw a few years back at James River (Buch). It was the most poorly officiated game I have ever seen. I kid you not, every single big play the other team had was negated with a penalty. I'm not sure if JR had a call go against them all night but it sure didnt seem like it. It was pathetic, one play in particular, the running back from the other team runs at least 2 yards past the first down marker (on 4th down), but the ref wasnt in a good spot, so they marked the play short. JR ended up losing still but it was a much closer game than it should have been due to officiating, and that's the truth. I know there's a thread in 2a about officiating, but still to this day I've not seen officiating as bad as buchanan years agoI'm surprised Chilhowie is as bad as they are. Havent they normally had pretty solid teams? I dont know much about the schools from down that way so its kind of blurry for me.
And after we play James River we have to travel to New Castle. Now after hearing you talk about the officiating at the Northwood game I was reminded of how laughable it is whenever we play Craig County. Not that the officiating helps them win any games but they make the games drag out. You can rest assured that if you break a long run for a TD it will be called back 100% of the time in New Castle. It forces your teams to run methodical drives all night long; which is fine. You'll still put up 40+ on them. But you also risk injuries and it just kills the flow of the game. Even when Craig came to BV last year I swear to God they brought the officiating crew from out of a trailer park in New Castle. We went the entire season and playoffs last year and probably had less than a dozen holding calls against us. But that ONE game we had at least 6 and it killed at least 3 long TD runs. It just dragged the game out. It's like that EVERY year with them.

I feel like the endzone on whsv has taken a step back the past 2 years. It just seems like they don't care about the local sports like they used to. Hopefully they get it right soonHa! I can remember one year when PM played James River where the refs threw a flag on the Blues because the players were getting fired up and hitting each other on the shoulder pads and helmets! That was 2003-ish.
I can also remember in the 1997 Region C Championship game where PM was leading Bath 14-0, the Blues SACKED the Bath QB (or whatever the heck you call it when its in a single wing), and the refs called PM for a late hit on the QB...there was only one Blues player in on that play so..Late hit?? Needless to say, Bath scored a couple plays later and ended up coming back and winning before getting throttled the next week by eventual state champion Appalachia. I still look back on that game with disgust because it cost PM their 13th regional championship.
I think the WORST call I've ever seen was when Salem's WR caught the ball a good 3 yards out of bounds vs. Amherst and the refs called it a TD. Of course the News7 called it an "honest" mistake at the time..smh
Speaking of News7...Friday Football Extra SUCKS now! WSLS does a much better job.
Yes Chilhowie usually has ok teams that at worst make it a game but this year they just don't have the kids to make it anything close to a game. And there fans are saying its because of youth and it may be but GW and Honaker and other teams are just as young and still try and make it a game. And what you said about Craig county I swear that is almost to a T what we dealt with Friday night we would score they would call it back so we had to drive down the field to score. Now we did have a 70yd TD on the second play of the game and a 60yd on the last play of the game but like I said that was out JV. And our coach ran the same QB draw 18 out of the last 20 plays in the 1st half to try and not run the score up but the score still ended up being what most would call a blowout so all he did was risk getting key kids hurt.I'm surprised Chilhowie is as bad as they are. Havent they normally had pretty solid teams? I dont know much about the schools from down that way so its kind of blurry for me.
