WOO WOO. As usual, I will go position by position.

QB - Great game by Dak once he settled down. I think having to convert that 4th and 9 twice in a row got him going. Threw the ball well, didnt show too much running but the threat made the difference. Back shoulder throw to Milton was beautiful. Hit Jameon in perfect stride on that deep ball. At this point, I still struggle to find much hope with either QB, but unfortunately for Tyler, I think Dak might give us the best chance to win this weekend. However, I honestly dont think the difference in production between the two would be as great as many think it would. Tyler would have lit up Alcorn too, he has done it against every lower level team we've played. Without a full commitment to the read option with Dak, which we appear hesitant to do, we wont see improvement this year. And there is still the issue of our read-option offense never moving the ball against a quality D. Perhaps Dak's ability as a passer can be the difference over what Relf did, but again we will have to see a commitment to doing that.

RB - SHUMP DAY ALL DAY. Give him the ball. Give him the ball. Give him the ball. If he doesnt get the ball in short yardage our staff has lost it. Its not just his power running style either. This kid has that ability to see holes and cut back lanes that only the best have. Shump was born to be in a one-cut zone blocking scheme. I hesitate to say it, because I really havent seen his top-end speed yet, but I really think he can be one of the best we've ever had. Why not throw some bold predictions out there? He was running behind a clown car of offensive linemen in the 2nd half, by the way. Good to see Griffin back on the field too, I just think Shump is a little better. Loved the 2 back sets with Griffin and Shump. Do that with Shump and LDP, please. Mix JRob in some too. Limit LDP to read option plays and passing plays. The counters and power runs go to JRob or Shump.

WR - I hear ya Joe Morrow. Way to shut me up and go up the ladder to make a couple great catches. RoJo still grossly underused. This group is going to improve all year. Very promising. Rojo, Jameon, DeRunnya, Ross, Morrow, Holloway - there is your rotation.

TE - nothing to add here.

OL - Sheesh. Our depth is scary at this point. I wanted to hold out hope that Robinson was developing, but that ship might've sailed. Justin Senior actually looked pretty good though, and I had heard that he was playing lights out in practice too. He might force his way into some playing time relieving Siddoway.

DL - again, much improved. Did what they were supposed to do against inferior talent. Test comes this weekend. Glad to hear Mullen saying Jones would play some DE against more pro-style teams. Smart. Quay looked like his normal disruptive playmaking self out there.

LB - this unit aGAIN has the chance to be special this year. Skinner, Wells and McKinney can ball.

CB - Calhoun is going to be a player. Jiles still lagging a bit for me. Cox needs to moved to safety immediately, he had a couple Alcorn State receivers beat him pretty soundly, though there was no completion on the plays. Safety is where he can make an impact.

S - this group literally did nothing the whole game. Not really their fault, our front 7 just played a heck of a game. Secondary needs to be Calhoun/Jiles(Love when he gets back or Redmond) at CB and Cox/Whitley at S. Maybe Jiles will pull a Morrow and show us something this weekend.

Looking forward: At this point I do not expect a win against a decent team until I see it happen. This is a game we have to win. AT Auburn, I just dont see it happening.

Agree with everything but one note to add...

"He was running behind a clown car of offensive linemen in the 2nd half, by the way."

Agreed, but he was running against a clown car defense. 0+0 is still 0. Meaning, I think he has a huge future ahead of him, but I'm hesitant to predict what he might look like right now against a real defense. Would like to see him get 12 carries against Auburn so we can feel good about what Shump can do for us this year, not next year.

Thought Dak played ok. He floated a few-- one I particularly remember he floated to Fred Ross on a crossing pattern, but over all he played great. Good way to build confidence if he ends up being the starter against AU.

Didn't see much of JRob. Was that out of keeping him healthy for next week?

really hard to gauge Shump. I saw soem stuff with his running style that I really liked and some stuff that I wasn't sold on. However, watching the Saints/Falcons game did anyone watch the way the Saints continue to use Sproles and not say "that's how we should use perk"?

Granted he's not quite Sproles talent, but has a lot of the same skill set. The goal needs to be to get him to the edge or against LB's in coverage with a few draw type plays mixed in.

I think our depth at OL is just fine, we have plenty of bodies, it's just that none of them are any good. I'm thinking at this point, we may not see a drop-off due to injury behind anyone except Jackson and Day. The rest are all average at best, even though they are upperclassmen. But there again, for whatever reason, our OL looked very good in the 1st half vs. Oklahoma State, and ****** since. I think it's a simply play-calling issue.

Agree with everything else. I just don't know about QB anymore.

I've seen enough to know that at worst he is our best short yardage back. Just think about it, line up Shump and LDP split alongside Dak, Shump has the dive option, LDP the sweep with Dak. Throw in a pass option with LDP swinging into the flat or angling into the middle (on a wr option route) and we could run that play all the way down the field.

Hope is fading fast for Robinson. He had trouble handling a DL from Alcorn. One of our 2nd & Goal plays, #99 at his lunch in the 2nd quarter. I don't think he played OG anymore after that. I expect Beckwith to be the starting OG against Auburn, which is brutal because their starting DTs are damn good.

Don't disagree with that at all. Would love to see it.

But my faith in our staff running those kinds of creative plays is a whole other problem. Would love to see it though.

i've never had any hope for D. Robinson after the first time I saw him in action. He's just slow and lacks that intensity you want from a lineman.

I remember watching Saulsberry getting absolutely whipped at tackle the year we first put him in there. just getting abused and I still thought he would turn out ok b/c we all knew he was a guard and you could tell every time he got beat he was visibly upset with himself. those type of guys always get better and he did. Robinson certainly has the body but i'm not sure if he has the attitude (pure guessing).

I'm not sure we don't see Siddoway or Senior at guard. Heck can Virges play guard?

It has to come back to depth at OT. I thought Siddoway played well last year until he hurt a foot (or something) in the LSU game. He was pretty limped up the last few games, I don't think he played much against OM. Maybe his play was just proof of how weak our schedule was at the beginning of 2012.

I'm guessing it's too late in the game to move him to OG. He only has 10 games left in his college career.
