The Grove:
The Grove is nice... The Junction holds its own against the Grove though. The one obvious advantage the Grove has is it has power hook ups. Also, I haven't seen him post in a while but I'm 90% sure I saw BigErn in the Grove before and after the game. Nice to see he is alive and well.

The Fight:
Thefamily drug me to "The Walk of Champions". It was meh... About 20mins before the walk a few State fans came walking down the walk to jeers and boos and 17 yous. Then a BIG State fan comes walking down the walk. When the jeers started he fired back and the next thing I knew the crowd pushes him to the ground, throw his bell out into the Grove and start thowing cups of beer and mixed drinks on him. I was only a few feet away but was helpless due to the masive numbers of people in red and blue. I truely felt sorry for the guy but like I said it was litterally a hundreds to one ratio. I'm pretty sure I was being eyed as a potential target. When the seconds long event had calmd a bit I tried to help the guy find his bell. I FELT BAD and actually a bit frightend, but I made it out with only a few middle fingers in my face and a bunch of 17s thrown my way. Id like to appoligize to the guy for not jumping in there with him, but I knew a losing battle when I saw one.

The walk to the game:
More middle fingers in my grill and a lot more 17 yous and DIAF comments.

The Game:
I was in the heart of an OM section. Lots of looks. I sat quietly for most the game. The two OM guys in front of me got into a fist fight with each other. I have no idea over what. Another fist fightseveral rows in front of me (two OM guys). Another fist fight across the isle from me (two more OM guys) Ive never seen so much infighting in my life. Old ladies flipping me the bird during the game. I tried to help the old gentlemen beside me when he left and he wouldn't accept my hand to steady him.

The stadium was ok... Something seems weired about the place and I never could put my finger on it. Just seemed weired for some reason.
Relf impressed
Perkins impressed
Masoli was overrated
Refs sucked. How do you call a penilty on Mcfee but not on the OM guy for doing the same celebration???

After the Game:
I raved on the traffic management before the game. I cussed it after the game. The wifes uncle went to get the car and was going to pick us up in the Grove at our tent. 11:45pm and we are still waiting on him. He calls and says he is in stand still traffic. We sit and freeze. I did get to see the end of the Ok - Ok St game though.

In summery:
99% of the OM fans at my familys tailgate spot were very hospitable but the OM fans everywhere else can go DIAF.
A BIG sorry to the State fan I didn't go to blows for on the walk of champions. It was just too many Rebs man. Sorry.</p>

this board after the game I am convinced that I can not attend the Egg Bowl in Oxford. When I was a young man I would have probably been the guy you talked about getting his *** kicked in that hideous bear attack, I have grown a littlewiser!

That sums up about every game I've been to in Oxford, which is a lot. Except I've never seen them fight each other like that. You do see the occasional scuffle and/or shouting match anywhere you go but damn.

No 2 sides in that stadium match or complement each other. The big endzone is nice, but dominates the rest of the stadium. It in no way complements anything else in the stadium.

The home and visitor sides look different. Once side has lots of small exit portals. The other side has fewer large portals (like DWS). The press box and suites or whatever on the opposite side don't complement each other at all. They are two completely different styles.

Then there are the other endzone bleachers that are like our's.

Basically, each part of that stadium looks like someone else's leftover that was acquired at different garage sales and re-assembled into a complete football stadium. Except the one endzone - they went all out on that. Too bad it looks like a Mercedes in an open, gravel-floor carport.

The difference is, if anybody would have put a finger in my or my girlfriends face, it would have been ripped off. Surprisingly, I didn't get heckled that much at all. After all the **** talking I did on the way (to and from) the game, I'm stunned I didn't get my skull cracked.

I'm sorry that big guy got pushed over in the "walk of losers", but he should have known better than to walk through it. Maybe he just didn't know what he was getting himself into.

Did anybody else get heckled this much? I didn't really see any state fans getting heckled so bad that I felt like I needed to back them up. Yeah, I heard alot of "17 state" and "rednecks" but nothing much else from those douche bags. They pretty much seemed like a dying breed that has just given up on life.

He was running around yelling a lot before, and even more after. Not sure exactly what he said though. But like others have said, you have to know where you are. Don't go running your mouth when you are out numbered 100-1. Unless you are a bad ***, in person, not on the internet.

he pillaged their womens for 2 straight nights while I drank all their booze. He had guys talkin **** to him the entire weekend and then I would turn around or one of the girls (all um chicks) would say thats his brother right there. Not that im that big vertically, horizontally yes but not vertically, but these were some little ***** for the most part.

Grove- meh, the place was dead. Hookups are nice
Talent-same as everywhere else like ive always said
Stadium-jim walter quality, as always, minus the recent addition
Crowd-terrible
Bar Scene-pretty damn good as always. We did the cellar, outside patio bar at levy and outside bar at library. All a good time. Kept my head on a swivel because we, me and bigern, were certainly getting eyed.
Overall Experience-A blast. The um folks we were with are good friends and we had a blast. Helps that it is the first time ive ever been to a game that we won there. As far as the typical UM types...douchebags as always.

We entertained several MSU friends at our tent in the Grove. Saw a whole lot of Ole Miss/MSU fans getting together for some fun. It's too bad that the only stories told are the ones involving the lunatic fringe.

and I'm having a hard time believing anyone that did didn't have it coming anyway.

Of course, I was with a mix of both fanbases and I didn't talk any **** to opposing fans. I guess, to me, that if you do engage in the **** talking you make yourself vulnerable to the consequences that may or may not come with it.

I did wear maroon and white but talked zero **** and kept quiet all day. There was a 60 foot bubble around their tailgate that I felt safe in. Out side of that was a constant barage of "17 you"'s and "die hick"'s.

complete with khaki pants, blue blazer, and red tie aka. Grove attire.

/I don't blame him.

His mom and dad on the other hand cant wait for the next 4 years to pass. I fully expect them to come back to the maroon and white side after he graduates. His mom cheered for both sides the whole game which brought some looks from the blue and red crowd and his dad told me after the game that "I hate this 17ing place".

before we even made it out of the stadium a drunk TSUN fan got in my face and started talking **** (unprovoked)as I was carrying my 5 year old stepson who was asleep to the car....I politely told him he was lucky I was carrying my stepson or they'd have to wire his jaw shut. Right after that he spouted off again. I looked at my wife, who is an Ole Miss fan, she said "I'll hold him". I went to hand my stepson over to her and when she had him I turned to look, wouldn't you kow the little17er was gone.

If this is the same situation I'm thinking of, I was told by a Bear friend it went down like this.<div>
</div><div>MSU fans, probably drunk, start walking down the WoC ringing their bells.</div><div>They're cussing and saying "17 the Bears!"</div><div>People are giving it back to them.</div><div>An old man, (60's? 70's?) grabs one guys bell.</div><div>The MSU guy punches the old man.</div><div>The mob pounces on him.</div><div>
</div><div>No clue the validity of that story.</div>

You got off easy before the game because it's a holiday weekend and everybody showed up late. Post-game was typical.

Incident #1 - A big thumbs down to the Dbag that tried to start a fight at our tent at Hume/ShoeMaker. Go "17" yourselves! Typical frat rat with his khacki pants and blazer, did not like the ribbing of "Nice Bow Tie" handed out by my brother. He decided he wanted to voice his opinion, but unfortunately, 5-110 pound frat monkeys stood no chance to 3 bulldogs with bells! He decided to take all four of his wins into the stadium.

Incident #2-10 - On the way to the game, Got several "Go to Hell State" from randoms. I love simply replying "I'm already here." They seem to have no response to this, and seemed stunned.

Incident #11 - I had someone worked my way to midfield on Bulldog side, about 7 rows up on the 50 yard line. I sat down in a row of seats that had obviously left early (typical). On final Bear drive, I gave a big yell when we got the sack. This sat off several, Get the 17 out of those seats, blah, blah, blah. Safe to say I was overserved and did not go quietly. This got a good ruse from the fellow Bear fans. Even had some grandmaw chasing me down the stairs. She seemed confused when all 85 lbs of her did not scare me away. I got up and went to rail, out of respect for the older lady. I may or may not have taunted them from the chainlink fence!

Incident #12 - On my way to car, we were celebrating, and some grip from a tent came out and told us to put away our bells or he would have them taken away. I politely dared him to take them away from us. He started shouting, which only made us ring them louder. This event was broken up by a Rent-a-cop.

I hate Oxford

I couldn't hear anything but the boos and jeers from the crowd. I have no idea if the guy was drunk or not. I did hear the bell but I couldn't tell who was ringing it. What I can verify is that the guy was thrown to the ground about 10 feet in front of me. 30 or so rebs were in on the action and HUNDREDS of other rebs ready to go. One of the guys buddies helped him up and was holding him back as a smaller reb threw a cup of beer right in his face (which rained down on me). When the State dude looked in his direction the reb high tailed it out of there. All the other pricks there started throwing full cups of drinks on him. The guy said "My dead grandfather/ grandmother gave me that bell. Ibetter get itback or I'm going to 17ing kick some ***" or something to that affect. I helped him find it.

Like I said I felt really, really bad for the guy. I don't care what anyone says, unless the guy kicked a retarded kid in a wheel chair, he didn't do anything that would have justified that kind of mob reaction.

He called late at night to tell us he had gone to a game on campus (not the Egg Bowl) and TSUN had lost. After the game he was with friends by the Grove sidewalk shooting the breeze, when another OM man and his (wife? girlfriend?) came walking up and said "I'm 6'2" and 220 pounds and I'm gonna whip somebodys ***. Please note my son who is also 6'2" but weighed about 160 was dressed in OM colors. My son, breathless on the phone, said "Dad, he grabbed me by the shoulders, picked me up, and threw me down like a piece of kleenex." My son bounced up and the man was coming at him again, not swinging but getting ready to grab him again. My son said "Dad, I hit him in the nose as hard as I could! Blood flew all over the place! I think I broke his 17n nose!" Then the man's gal pal jumped on my son's back, locked her legs around him and started hitting him on the ear. A friend grabbed her around the chest (actually by the tits) and dragged her off. Then the bad *** straighted his tie and walked off, with girl friend by his side saying "When are you going to start acting your age." The whole thing took about 5 seconds and my son and friends are just looking at each other and saying WTF was that all about? Bourbon and hot sun will do that to you I guess. He never laid a hand on my son, but his ear swelled up like a cantelope.

Had ainter-fan tailgate and was very reserved pre-game and post-game. However, I could not control myself in the stadium. We sat on row 4 right behind the State bench. There were no issues and not one word was said to me during the game. There were a good bit of State fans around, but no cowbells i noticed, so that probably helped. Jack Daniels and I made up a song thatwe were singing in the stands and in the concourse while taking breaks. It went, "You can't catch Ladarius, Ladarius, Ladarius. You can't catch Ladarius, Ladarius, whoooooooooo!" Never a word said to me.

On the way out, a State fan was running his mouth, but nothing over the top and he anda Reb had words. Well, the Reb's wife/girlfriend/pet cowdecided to pour her drink on the State fan's head, and then got in his face yelling, "hit me m'fer! i dare you to hit me you redneck m'fer! go ahead, hit me m'fer!" So he laid that ***** out. Not really, but I could tell he was thinking about it. I was wshing he had a big fat woman with him to do it for him.

I was standing literally two feet away from this incident and this is exactly what happened:<div>
</div><div>A big, drunk as hell MSU fan was ringing his cowbell through the entire walk of champions. People booing, throwing beer on him, etc. until right when he makes it to the end an Ole Miss guy (in his early 50s, not 70s) who looked like he could still play football grabbed his cowbell and a tussle between the two started. Considering how drunk the State fan was, it didn't take long for the OM guy to knock him down, and he came down hard. Right when this happened, an older OM fan (probably in his 60s and tiny) ran up and threw an entire beer in his face. The crowd loved it. Then the cowbell got stolen, but the State fan wouldn't go away. As everybody is yelling at him, he starts yelling "Where is my damn cowbell?! My grandma gave me that cowbell!" Finally, a State fan shows him where he is, and he takes it and walks off. What follows is a lot of high fives with the two older OM guys, which was undoubtedly the high point in both of their lives.</div><div>
</div><div>I didn't help the State guy and neither did my buddies because of many reasons. For one, it was a lost cause, and I didn't want to get beer poured on me over something I couldn't help. Secondly, and most important, that State fan got what he deserved. Now, I'm not saying I'm in any way glad that it happened to him, because I'm not and I felt bad for him, but I know that if an OM person did that right before our Dawg Walk I would knock that mother17s lights out. He was too drunk to control himself and what happened was pretty much inevitable. Not to mention, he made State fans look pretty stupid.</div>

I was the guy that helped him find his bell. I handed it to his girl who then tucked it into her jacket. Yes, the guy was most likely drunk, but the guys who got him to the ground and the guys who poured drinks on him didn't have enough hair on their sack to do that to him one on one. They guy was drunk and stupid but didn't deserve what he got.

to the game. They had drinks poured down their backs leaving the stadium by a group of Ole Miss students that appeared to be doing it to anyone they could find in Maroon. One in his group struck back and flattened one of the little asshats and a huge melee broke out which resulted in an elderely man in their group ending up in the trauma center in Memphis with a head injury and he is still there. The cousin said it was a scary, scary event. I can't believe all the **** I am hearing about the behavior up there but then again, yes I can believe it. Grow the 17 up bears.

did notice allot of hostility at the game but really after it was the worse. State fans ringing cowbells and folks really getting pissed off. I'm sure the extra time for the alcohol to settle in. Their PA system not working worth a **** I think really got them going also. The one thing I did notice I got bumped several times pretty hard with a sorry and one kid accidentally spilled his drink at the concession stand and just about got everyone. There was several OM guys there that jumped his **** pretty good.

It was definitely my worst experience at any away game this year.
