Bo Bounds made a good point on his show about Nutt/Egg Bowl...

If he's the lamest of lame ducks, what does he care? He's really got no emotional investment in that game. He's always just been a hired gun that seemed like an outsider in terms of college football in Mississippi. I just can't see him motivating himself enough to care at all.

Unless he just really, really, really has a personal vendetta against Mullen. But the MSU/Ole Miss stuff?I don't think he cares.</p>

I'll take a lame duck Nutt team any day over anybody else. There's something about an interim coach situation that gets players all fired up to the point where they usually play well beyond their normal means.

Considering it will be a strong possibility that we will need a win to gain bowl eligibility I hope ole Danny boy will do the same.

then what do you have to lose? It all depends on how he approaches it. Will he be spiteful and just go through the motions, or will he want to go out on a high note? You'll probably be able to tell when the team comes out which route he chose. Either he'll hype them up with a 'win one for the Gipper' type speech as his last hurrah with the team, or he'll just let it play out and start looking for a place to land.

If he really did get fired and is coaching the last 3 games, I don't see what incentive he has. Plus, I don't see the players rallying around him to help him go out on a bang - wasn't part of the downfall losing the commitment of the players?

coach these last 3 games. I see it as 2 options:

1) Fire him now, show him the door and bring an assistant in to be interim, then hire on a new coach to clean house
2) Wait until after the season to fire him.

As it stands, just like many of you have said, he is a lame duck. A figure head with zero credibility to the fans, zero credibility to his players, is not trusted, and worse, even the administration is not showing their support anymore. Regardless of whether or not he wants to beat Mullen, he is going to have a very hard time convincing his players as a "fired coach" that it can be done. I expect 3 meltdowns by the Rebels to close out this season, simply because even the administration has publicly given up on their coach.

further or as far as he had tarnished himself. Bo was saying he throws out any prep work for La Tech and LSU and starts preparing for us "yesterday". For once in a Blue Moon (no Lifestyle beer pun intended) I agree w/ him.

other than a made up talking point for Bo's show.

Dan Mullen is not the reason Houston Nutt lost his job. Houston Nutt is.

to score against Kentucky there is a dose of reality that trumps all motivational intangibles.

We see how that turned out. He doesn't have as good of a team this year as he did last year and he's on the road instead of at home. You never know, but I'm pretty confident we win this game.

fall are amazing. Something tells me Nutt won't get the same warm welcome in Oxford that Jackie enjoys today in Starkvegas.

He'd like nothing better than to beat Dan, just so he can say he beat him once, and then say, "17 you ole miss, here's your Egg Bowl trophy, now gimme my payoff check." Never underestimate an ego like his.

The Bears have been outscored 209-87 in SEC games this year, including losing to Vandy and KY by a combined 40 point margin. Lets look at the numbers for the Bears in the SEC:

Scoringoffense - 11th
Scoring defense - 12th
Total offense - 11th
Total defense - 12th
Rushing offense - 11th
Rushing defense - 12th
Passing offense - 10th
Passing defense - 12th
Passing efficiency - 11th
Passing defe. efficiency - 12th
Sacks by - 11th
Sacks against - 11th
First downs - 10th
Opponent first downs - 11th
Third down coversion - 9th
Opponent third down conversion 11th
Fourth down coversion - 12th
Opponent fourth down conversion - 11th
Penalties - 11th
Turn over margin - 11th

And at the rate LSU was knocking Tide players out of the game this past weekend, the Bears may not have enough warm bodies to field a team in the Egg Bowl.

We could lose if we turn the ball over 6+ times and the Bears get a couple of ST TDs; however, that has not happened to us thus far this year and I dont think it will happen in the Egg Bowl.

1. Contain Brassel: that guy has talent and he's their only offensive weapon that scares me.

2. Run the damn ball: Ballard, Perkins, Relf and even Griffin need to pound out first downs, sustain drives and break what little remains of their wills early.

I have a hard time seeing them get up for this game like they normally would. But it is the Egg Bowl and anything is possible.

having an affair with a rival female booster and making up recruiting infraction lies. And a subsequent 4-year probation for less than $1,500 in actual infractions.

doesn't seem to fit Nutt to me... He was always trying to misdirect attention from himself which I think speaks volumes as him being the type of person that doesn't accept blame. If he wants to look at someone to blame, the closest one he can look at is Mullen. It's hard to predict how idiots think though.

that we are going to beat their asses. Dan will not lose that game. It just ain't gonna happen. Nutt will try so much silly **** in that game that he is going to make them look like even bigger fools. Endpoint: UM is the WORST team in the SEC, and I believe we will beat them like they are the worst team.

He's really the only other legit receiving weapon they have. But Brassel is on his own level. I have fears of him getting to the corner on us with those jet sweeps like Auburn was able to do.

December, 2009: "Nutt never considered MState to be an important game. They didn't even practice that week. But the way State strutted around after that win got the point across to Nutt. He won't make that mistake twice."
December 2010: "Lot of distractions the week leading up to the game. Now he and the staff understand how important this game really is. In 2011, get ready. It's personal now!"

The whole staff save G. Brewer has been canned. Do you really think that Nix, Keith Burns, David Lee, et al. are going to get up for one more game? Or do you think they'll be making phone calls 24-7 trying to find a place to land. As of today they will be without jobs in 3 weeks. Let that sink in, no income barelling down the pike at you. They may go through the motions but they're going to be distracted looking for their next gig.

I know Nutt has been at OM a few years now. However make no mistake about it, he is an Arkansan and Razorback. Always has been. The Egg Bowl has never been personal to him. It won't be this year either. Especially now that he has been fired.

The ONLY reason Nutt might actually get fire up, is to prove to the people at OM, they made a mistake firing him. It would have nothing to do with Mullen or State. He did pulled one off his last game at Arkansas. However he had three NFL RBs on his roster for that game.

will break out the funny stuff - fake kicks, backward pass plays, etc., trying everything. If Dan has our guys coached up and alert we should break it off in them.
