The ACC is vulnerable if schools want to leave moreso than the BIG 12. This is because their low contracts are locked in for a very long time. Lets say FSU wants to leave. They’ll make 30-35 million per year from 2025-2036 in the ACC. But in the SEC they’ll make $100 million per year from 2025- 2032, then get ANOTHER raise Before the ACC contract is even up. So here how it looks- these are the years : 2025-26 26-27 27-28 28-29 29-30 30-31 31-32 32-33 33-34 34-35 35-36 ACC school gets $35 million per school per Yr. X. 11 yrs. = $385 million SEC schools get $700 million per school for 7 of those 11 years ( $100 mil X 7 yrs.) and then? Maybe double for the other four yrs. through 2036 after the SECs new contract is up and they get yet another one. But let’s say it’s just half again–$150 million per school per year for 4 years through 2036. That’s an additional $600 million. Plus the $700 million=$1.3 billion. So FSU earns $1.3 billion as an SEC member or $385 million during the same period as an ACC member. But the ACC keeps their rights? Ok, FSU and the ACC go to court, agree after awhile to a lesser buyout of that $385 million, Let’s say $200 million and then FSU still collects 1.1 BILLION more through 2036 than if they remain in the ACC. Who is going to turn that down?
