Yeah I think the opinion Devaney and Bryant held was more in line with that time, and Joe Paterno saw something. Can't fault Devaney and Bryant for their thinking, but impressed Paterno saw these battles so long ago.

I need to emphasize that I'm sure Paterno is in hell waiting for his buddy Sandusky to join him. He was beyond scum, a terrible human being capable of a level of cowardice most other people couldn't fathom. But that doesn't mean he was wrong about this.
