Going back to the 4-3 doesn't fit our roster and the players recruited. The "experts" think it's a good hire but I'm not so sure. Could be a complete disaster.
It’s amazing to me how much more State message board posters know about the intricacies of defensive schemes than a guy that has coordinated top 25 defenses for 17ing Vandy.
nmFor me, it's got nothing to do with "intricacies of defensive schemes". He had awful defenses at TN & I worry that coaches may have figured out his defense. He wouldn't be the first d coordinator to have his d figured out.
I think it'll be fine; it's much easier to switch from a 3-4 to a 4-3 than vice versa. Sweat and Spencer can be every down college DE's, and the rest of the DL remains more or less unchanged. LB is practically unchanged as well since we played 3 LB's with Gray as a hybrid LB/S most of the time anyway. Secondary is unaffected regardless.
