Yes, he had his own show for a while tooIs Easterwood the same guy who called into Vernon’s show about HS basketball recruiting?
Yeah. I called him once, all excited off our Final Four run and asked about a recruit, Horatio Webster. Easterwood said, "he is good but no Dontae Jones."Yes, he had his own show for a while too
I don't really know, I moved from Mempho in the late 90's and couldn't hear 560 any longer. I missed that and the alternative station - was it 96X? - for years after, between '99 and whenever ipods came out.Is Easterwood the same guy who called into Vernon’s show about HS basketball recruiting?
Don’t call me, I’ll call you. Usually means they already know where they are going. How does the do not contact tag
The Wake Up Crew on Rock 103 followed by Sports 56 was great radioBack in 1994 or so, I was living and working in Memphis. I listened intently to 560 am, the sports talk station, every night for any State-related news I could get. There wasn't much. But one night, I was in my car in the parking lot of Albertson's, when Keith Easterwood started talking about us. He was reporting some recruiting news, and I remember crystal clear him saying, "Richard Williams is building a monster in Starkville." A year and a half later, I always remembered him calling it as we mowed down Cincy and then UConn.
So I don't say this lightly, but I think Brian O'Connor is building a monster in Starkville right now. I think some of you boys need to get on board.
I loved 96X night at the Chick’s games. Can’t beat .96 beer and hot dogs.I don't really know, I moved from Mempho in the late 90's and couldn't hear 560 any longer. I missed that and the alternative station - was it 96X? - for years after, between '99 and whenever ipods came out.
They got screwed over by the committee. I know their RPI wasn't great, but that's largely due to the AD tanking their schedule and their series with Florida State getting canceled. If we end up raiding Virginia’s roster, we could be dang good pretty quickly. They had some serious talent this year.
I am actually really struggling to figure out how they missed the NCAAT. Top 25 nationally batting average and Top 50 in ERA. It looks like they played a bad nonconference schedule and then weren’t able to bounce all the way back from a slow ACC start.
Miss that old Tim McCarver stadium!I loved 96X night at the Chick’s games. Can’t beat .96 beer and hot dogs.
They also had dime beer night in the outfield bleachersI loved 96X night at the Chick’s games. Can’t beat .96 beer and hot dogs.
I doubt the AD had much to do with the schefule. Losing a 3-gsme road series at Florida St hurt the RPI. But they OOC schedule was awful. Only 2 game vs a decent team. Home series vs Dartmouth (3 games ) and VCU, Navy & Towson killed them. The 2nd one maybe they get a break on since it was during conference play. But if you know you’ve got that one & you scheduled week with the opening tournament vs Michigan, Villanova & Rice you can’t schedule Dartmouth. They got screwed over by the committee. They finished 16-11 in the ACC. That should have gotten them in. Turns out that 3 (!) teams who finished below them in the ACC standings won Regionals, with probably 2 headed to Omaha.
But Virginia's bad luck is our extremely good fortune.
I definitely remember $.96 beer night sponsored by 96X. You got a 10oz plastic cup of draft beer. But I'm not complaining.I loved 96X night at the Chick’s games. Can’t beat .96 beer and hot dogs.
The AD apparently didn't let them spend very much bringing in opponents or traveling to them, so they had to do the best they could given their budget. O'Connor definitely wanted a tougher schedule that wouldn't tank their RPII doubt the AD had much to do with the schefule. Losing a 3-gsme road series at Florida St hurt the RPI. After initial research, here are the players I want (all currently in the portal):
Does Jay Woolfolk have eligibility left? I'm guessing no.
- Tomas Valincius - do not contact
- Eric Becker - do not contact
- Aiden Teel - do not contact
- Henry Ford
Not a current player but a former Virginia commit:
