Rumors are great for message board fodder but not for interviews with federal criminal investigators.
If (when) Bond meets with federal authorities, the one thing he can not do is lie, ommitor fabricate information. I have no doubt he has and will continue to tell the truth. He and most impotantly his legal rep knows, Johnis on the record at that point. Lying to federal criminal investigators is a Title 18, 1001 violation and is five year felony count. Iffive sources exist as ESPN journalistshave stated, each person will be identified and interviewed by the Bureau.
If (when) John'slegal rep makes a statement that he has met with investigators the pressure will be incredible on Rogers and Cecil. Do you allow yourself to be interviewed voluntarily? If youtook money and know the allegations to be accurate what do you do? If you did take money, at the very least you are talking tax evasion. If Cecilused his business and/or church to launder the funds, it will be determined and both are as good as gone.
What do you do if you are Cecil? Tell the truth and face the consequences or lie and in all likelyhood face much more severe consequences.
The FBI is not the SEC or NCAA. They have subpoena power. They have analysts and in financial fraud cases, they are very effective.
The good news for Cecil is if he did nothing wrong it will be plainly stated by the federal authorities. And you can bet he will sue the pants off of everyone involved in this mess.
The bad news is, he looks guilty as hell and no one involved in reporting this mess appears to have enough to gain to risk going to federal prison by lying to investigators. If you are Cecil and Rogers, what do you do?
If I am Rogers, I am volunteering for my interview with the Bureau. It is much better to get infront of these things before you are the guy left holding the bag.
Rogers and his partner are the bigger fish in this equation. The Newtons are only one recruit. How many recruits has Rogers' company "placed" is the larger question for federal authorities. That has RICO potential-
