Sidney was far from the only cancer Stansbury had on his team the last 4 or so years. I do agree that in hindsight, we probably should have asked him to retire a year earlier or given him 1 more year, though.
Patdog - you are ABSOLUTELY correct. When we didn't ask him to retire a year earlier, we needed to stick with him for 1 more year to see if Josh Gray gets here, Hood stays, Pollard comes, etc. Then, we could make a decision. This isn't about Stans or Ray - it is about people in upper-Mgmt making good decisions. Timing is everything, and we blew it. Our product is bad, our fan base is fractured (just read this thread), and basketball is irrelevant. Like it or not (criticize it or not) - I have many big Bulldog friends that don't even know when our team plays - people that use to keep up with it and attend many games. I really think some are "happy" as they get to hunt all the time now or attend church on Wednesdays now or don't have to be tired at work on Thursdays. Again, we blew it because of timing - I said that from the beginning and all I got was "Stans lover". No, it was about timing - and, unfortunately for State, I was ABSOLUTELY correct.
