Bottom line: it's embarrassing to lose to such an inferior school and opponent

i can take losing to a team like kentucky that both outworks us and out-talents us. but not a bunch of scraggly scrubs that just work harder in the paint. sad.

In the paint, full court press...what's the diff. Its an L. Inferior coaching, inferior preparation, inferior motivation leads to a L.

Although it was amusing to hear the fans reaction to the win... lots of frustration and pent up anger released last night for the bears.

It was a road loss to a team that will likely be Top 100 and in the NIT come the end of the season, not exactly a resume killer come tourney time.

We're a typical AK team, exceedingly mediocre, which makes us just dangerous enough to win some games and just bad enough to take a few bad losses.

We've got a good bit of talent in our front court, but we play a sloppy brand of basketball. Sometimes it's less sloppy than others. Apparently last night was one of those less sloppy times. I didn't watch (watched the Grizz instead), but it didn't surprise me that we won. Our team is decent enough to win most of our home games with Holloway healthy, and Stans's boys have always had enough erratic nature to both beat great teams and lose to mediocre ones in the same season.

My guess given Stans's history is that you're on your way to an 8 or 9 seed in the dance, maybe you'll get lucky enough to end up in a 7 or 10 instead, avoiding the dreaded 8-9 game. For a while there I was doubting if we were going to slip into the NIT, but I'm betting we'll find enough wins to get back to the AK invitational again, though I have my doubts that we'll flirt with the bubble all that much like we often do.

real trouble in the future. With all that said we certainly didn't get any breaks but really didn't deserve any, it shouldn't come down to that.

we saw some of that tonight but it was hard to tell with the effort we gave. If you guys continue to play like that you will win some ball games.<div>The effort on the boards was outstanding and your shooting was much better than it had been lately. I think you guys are a dangerous team</div><div>if you continue to improve. I am officially concerned about our team after last night and Arkansas.</div>

Always have been. Most State fans won't admit it, but our programs under AK and Stans are a lot alike. We both squander talent and lose games to inferior teams because of poor effort. We both have the ability to get up and play to a high level. The only difference is if you graphed the ebb and flow, Stans's inconsistency would occur with a higher average result because he gets better talent to squander and is a slightly better floor coach than what we have.

We had people who had high expectations for our team this year. I never saw it. I saw the typical AK team with talent in spots and holes in places. Where we were back court driven last year with our talent/experience. This year our talent/experience is front court driven. When Buckner shows up to play, we can be really good. Problem is he shows up only once every 4 or 5 games or so. He sulks in the rest.

That's why I quit watching. It's too aggravating, and when you know the end result is going to more than likely be an NIT bid anyway, there is little reason to get up for it.

I'm sure that if we string a few wins together and get to mid-February in bubble position, I'll start watching the bubble. I think I enjoy that aspect of basketball season more than any other part of it, so I may pick up watching us then if we're in the bubble mix, but it won't change the end result...the NIT.
