But you just can't overlook what they did in late 60s/early-mid 70s. Easily some of the best music ever. No matter the missteps they've made, that period can't be trumped.

Bob Slydell: "Let's see... You are Michael... Bolton?"
Michael: "Yeah."
Bob Porter: "Is that your real name?"
Michael: "Yeah."
Bob Slydell: "Are you any realation to the pop singer?"
Bob Porter: ""
Michael: "No, it's-- It's just a coincidence."
Bob Slydell: "Because, I'll be honest with you. I love his music. I do. I'm a Michael Bolton fan."
Bob Porter: "Me too."
Bob Slydell: "For my money, I don't know if it gets any better than when he sings 'When a Man Loves a Woman'."
Bob Porter: "But you must really love his music, huh?"
Michael: "Yeah, he's-- he's-- he's pretty-- He's pretty good, I uess."
Bob Slydell: "You're bleepdamn right, he is."
Michael: "Right."
Bob Porter: "So, tell me. What's your favorite song of his?"
Michael: "Mmm... I don't-- I don't know. I mean, I guess I sort of like them all."
Bob Slydell: "That's a riot. I'm the exact same way. But it must be twice as hard for you, being having the same name as him. I celebrate the guy's entire catalog. Anyway, let's get down to business, Michael."
Michael: "You know, you can just call me Mike."

huge fan, but they were pretty good. Their solo careers weren't bad at all. Just not sure that they should be labelled overrated.

Who is he saying is over-rating the Rolling Stones and Eagles? The millions of people who bought their albums? Stones have like 70,000,000 albms sold in the US, and the Eagles greatest hitssold 30 million copies alone. Not liking so0meones music doesn't mean they're overrated. That guy's an idiot.

I bet he doesn't like Aldous Snow and Infant Sorrow either.

The Beach Boys have nothing that even comes close to Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, Beggars Banquet and Exile on Main Street. Those four albums are the pinnacle of rock-and-roll.

slightly overrated (I think they actually got a boost because they broke up) there is no doubt that their Hotel California album is one of the best albums of any genre ever in the history of music. They certainly had an interesting career as really the first 2/3rds of their career was much more country than rock (and produced a best selling greatest hits album) and then they went pretty much full rock the last 2 albums once Joe Walsh joined on.

I think the eagles music sucks, but that may be just me. totally subjective subject. I like the rolling stones stuff. Beast of Burden is classic.

When you are widely considered top 5 band of all time, such as Rolling Stones, Beatles, etc., it is very easy to say you are overrated, seeing as how it is nearly impossible to underrated. You are already at the top. If you think anyone is better than the Beatles, then you are saying the Beatles are overrated.

You may not be in love with The Beatles, The Who, The Stones, Elvis, Dylan, Zepplin, Nirvana.... but there is a reason why people still love and obsess over them YEARS after they wrote all their good stuff.

watch out using album sales to justify which bands are the best ever. most people have poor tastes in entertainment and just accept whatever is spoonfed to them. hence creed and nickelback selling millions of albums and titanic and avatar being the 2 largest grossing movies ever.

Creed sold over 10 million albums I believe. Granted that's a lot less than the Stones or The Eagles, but that's still a lot of people listening to sub-par music. And I'll admit that I had a Creed album when I was 15.

but there is no comparison between creed/nickleback and stones/eagles when it comes to albums sold and sustained success. I doubt 20 year olds will be buying nickleback albums in 20 years. My point was really, how is a band overrated? Music is subjective.

best band ever. seriously, name another band that sounded like the velvet underground before the velvet underground. there were other blues rock bands before the stones and other psychedelic pop bands before the beatles, but there wasn't anything like vu. side 2 of vu+nico is impeccable and it's unreal how adventurous and ahead of its time it was. almost 45 years later and it doesn't sound dated at all.<div>
</div><div>the stooges and black sabbath are probably the other 2 most innovative but relative well known bands of that era imo.</div><div>
</div><div>vu pretty much created underground noisey, gritty sounding rock music and the punk ethos. the stooges took the punk ethos and pretty much created punk rock. and sabbath pretty much created heavy metal (sorry, zeppelin was blues rock, not metal).

well unless you have a delorean lying around, we don't know what kids will be buying in 20 years. i know nickelback and kid rock and **** are still selling records well over 10 years after they debuted. i also know a lot of people still listen to pretty ****** music from the 70s and 80s that a lot of people, at the time it was released, would have never thought would stand the test of time...like the eagles.

revolver is really the only beatles album i ever listen to anymore. it's pretty great. the rest are hit and miss and at this point in my life i've heard the hit songs so many times i'd rather just listen to something else.

yeah i'm not gonna say they aren't either. just over time i would expect people to use the beatles and stuff as a launching pad to find other great lesser known music.<div>

Do you suggest they listen to your music before or after they kill themselves?

Nobody said you can't discuss who you like or don't, but don't tell someone to go 17 themselves and die if they don't declare allegience to your preferred band/musician. That's 17ing ignorant.

I have ever been to. Just a putrid show.

It like seeing a Bob Dylan show, you just expect so much more.

Now, Neil Young has absolutely rocked every time I have seen him live.

what are you talking about? i didn't tell anyone to go *!*@ themselves and die because of their music tastes. i don't even think i said anything about close to be confrontational. if you can't handle a little eagles joke, then i hope you never watch the big lebowski.<div>

my response was to the one that stated someone told him the Beattles were overrated, so he classified them as a Bieber fan who plays in the street and will get hit by a bus. So in other words, either you love the Beattles or you are a complete waste of human DNA.

I don't think that was you. Even though you call yourself a music snob, you sound a little more reasonable. Perhaps I shouldn't call them snobs. Perhaps "music nazi" would be a better term.

No that's not what I said. I said that if you think the Beatles were overrated then you have a serious lack of understanding what creating music is all about. I am sorry if I offended you. I am not a music snob, but I do know enough about all forms of music to actually understand that a great deal of popular music creation (I would talk about multi-tracking, overdubbing, usage of non-typical musical instruments in the recording process but you would call me a snob) and song writing done since the 60's has been greatly influenced by what the Beatles did.

Again, I apologize if I have offended you because you just simply thought I meant if you don't like the Beatles you should kill yourself. I would expect someone that uses the hyperbole so eloquently in their replies would understand when I used it.

4 stones albums in the top 100 to BB's 1.

Also, shouldn't your argument, based on the RS article, be that Brian Wilson is better than the Stones? Doesn't look like the rest of the BB had anything to do with the making of Pet Sounds outside of laying down vocal tracks.
