Randi Weingarten pushes Target boycott over ICE and sparks fresh fury

https://nypost.com/2026/08/23/us-ne...arget-claims-retailer-remained-silent-on-ice/

American Federation of Teachers (AFT) President Randi Weingarten promoted a nationwide back-to-school boycott of retail giant Target over the weekend because the company had not condemned ICE operations in Minnesota — the location of its headquarters — prompting criticism from education advocates and a call for federal scrutiny.

“We gave Target ample time to stand with the communities in which they operate and help their neighbors, but its silence about federal immigration abuses has been deafening,” Weingarten said in a statement.

“The issue could not be more pressing: Seven months since the murders of Alex Pretti and Renée Good, masked ICE agents are still in our streets, our schools and our communities, terrorizing families in the name of Donald Trump’s illegal and immoral assault on immigrants striving for their American Dream,” she continued. “That’s why we’re urging our members to avoid Target and patronize more ethical shopping alternatives this back-to-school season.”

Hey, Google! What dumb@$$ **** has MAGAtards boycotted over the years because they're giant gd snowflakes.

Google: Conservatives [MAGAtards] have repeatedly used consumer boycotts against companies they consider “woke” — Budlight, Target, Disney, Nike, North Face, Adidas, Kohl's, Cracker Barrel, Ben & Jerry's, PetSmart, Maybelline, etc. The list is too long for this query. Should I produce a second list?

From the party that brought us the boycott of Bud Light for the crime of giving a trans influencer a one-off custom can comes, “boycotts are stupid”.

Boycotts are generally stupid, but interestingly we only hear it as a negative when done by dems.

Hey Ghee - it's one thing for people to make choices/comments, quite different than someone propped up by teacher dues to do it, don't you think?

Target is trying to make both sides happy and it's not working.

Target does a lot of things right, it really focuses on buying from vendors owned by women and BIPOC, which makes liberals happy but really upsets MAGA.

Then on the flip side it bends the knee to the Trump admin and makes a statement about cutting DEI policy, but still quietly still following a rebranded DEI policy. This makes MAGA happy, but upsets the liberals, when it should be the other way around.

When in fact, all they need to do is tell anyone outside their org to pound sand when someone tries to make them do something.

Look at Costco for example: They told the admin to pound sand when it came to cutting DEI and then never brought it up again. They also refuse to buy any of the meat that Trump has been peddling the last week. They really don't talk about politics at all, and both sides love them.

The only way for a business to win when it comes to politics is not talk about politics.

And also, who gives a shid if the make a statement on ICE or not? People need to find better things to do with their time than worry about Target.

This all reminds me of that bit about Ja Rule chiming in about 9-11.

Teachers Union is really worried about Education and $$ for American Students
This ahole head of teacher's union who harmed children during the pandemic, now feels it is her duty to pontificate on an issue that is out of the purview of her job. What a jerk. Personally, when Target went LGBT and essentially supported the mutilation of children, I cut down my visits 95%. Just disgusting to think of what an awful business it is.
