....And baseball is stuck with the worst sports channel ever? Is the demand for college softball beyond college baseball?<div>
</div><div>At least some of the games are on SPSO, which means HD for directv users.</div>

ESPN tries to force women's sports onto us and then makes a really lame attempt to make the women's sport viable to men's. "Hey! That girl throwing a softball 65 MPH- that's really like a MLB pitcher throwing a baseball 110".

I can't watch softball- all the girl's cheering in the dugout louder than the crowd- ie their parents, the strategy of single, bunt, bunt, and hope someone makes an error to score a run. It's disgusting.

The only reason to watch softball is Jenny Finch, and she's retired now. If they all looked like her, I could probably put up with the above.

That's exactly what they are doing. Being very PC.

That, and years ago our softball team would sit on the trailer in frontof mine if their game ended before our baseball game. Every player on the team would have an icepack saran wrapped around each bicep, each thigh and each calf. I knew then they were either having bat fights or were just a bunch of posers.

Maybe we should havebeen sending our pitchers to the softball coach for icing since a lot on here think that is why we had so many injuries (which is 100% horseshit by the way).

Will be interesting to see if Bama/MSU match up in Thursday game, if that ends up being the largest crowd of the tourney.

Let's emphasize sports that no one cares about over those that more people do.
title IX has nothing to do with it. the sec obviously already had a contract in place with comcast to air the sec baseball tourney when they signed the espn deal. the terms of the espn deal requires them to air the softball tourney. the sec just wants as many sporting events aired as possible, whether it's women's rowing or whatever, so long as it's not eating into men's CBB and CFB. i guarantee you espn isn't stoked about airing the softball tourney, but of course they are gonna try to sell it as best they can because their job is to get people to watch their channels. <div>
</div><div>in short, if anyone is to blame, it's the sec for (1) locking the baseball tourney into a deal with comcast (not sure how much longer, but i'd assume when that deal is up it'll be on espn) and (2) for negotiating into the espn deal for espn to air non-revenue sec sports. espn isn't trying to "force" softball and women's sports on you.</div>

Over the last few years it's gotten better and better to watch live sports for free* over the internet. The whole thing being on ESPN3 is icing on the cake.<div>

If you've watched any cheerleading competitions on ESPN in the last few years, I cannot imagine how you think it shouldn't be a sport. Also, this would help with Title IX, as cheer squads are dominated by females. Already on campus, counts toward female athletes now - don't see the problem.
