Pope isn't just thinking about the team next season. He is building a foundation that will ensure success in future seasons.

Williams, Hawthorne, Johnson, Moreno, Chandler, Noah, Lowe, Jelavic, and Dioubate all can figure to be multiple year members of the roster. Not all of them may last longer than a year. I'm sure Pope figures there will be some transfers, but a few staying and providing continuity is fantastic value.

Add 2-3 top recruits in the 26 class and we will be rolling.

Maybe he knew something we didn't know?
You really are a contrary cuss, ain't you?
bud I have been one of the more positive people on here this whole damn offseason. Me pointing out a kid isn’t gonna get to play a lot here and would get to play a lot at another school ain’t a damn attack on Kentucky. He is getting sold on a developmental plan, if he is cool with it, than great. But he would play at the other options early, which is why I am shocked he came here.

I’m pleasantly shocked too. Really thought he would go to Pitt or WVU.

I cannot stand ESPN. So the little story of Hawthorne coming to Kentucky they keep saying top 100 recruit. Then go on to say his Sr. Year he moved up to 81st. They never mention him being 33rd?

I mean come on. The hate is real. They do this crap all the time. But when it's a Dookie they blast as much positive spin as possible and always use the best ranking they can find.

Hawthorne if he sticks around and develops is a great add. I just think we all have reason to be skeptical whether the players stick around for the whole process or not now. Glad he is cat.
By most accounts, rumors mind you, he took less to come here and compete for a job. That doesn’t sound like someone who will take off in year 2, unless he sees no path to playing time. If that is the case, we have a hell of a team next year.

Im lost so is he 33rd overall or 81st as ESPN states? That's a big difference.
I’d say ESPN hasn’t updated their rankings in a bit. He’s rising everywhere else. I don’t really care where he finishes honestly. He’s hitting his best basketball and we may get him multiple years which will be awesome.

True.. He wasn’t ranked 33 for nothin lol..
Eh, I think he is A LOT better than 33.

Edit: This isn’t your typical college team. You either bring your A game to practice everyday or you’re gonna get embarrassed on the floor. I don’t know where Pope is gonna find enough minutes for everyone if JQ is ready at the beginning unless he runs the wheels off this beast. Not my problem to figure out but I’m sure gonna enjoy the show.

Can you imagine if Pope gets a championship this coming year? He will have a very long career to get number 2 and if he does man he would be passing some really really good coaches on the Kentucky coaching totem pole.
