How can he get 10 years you ask? Why don't you go ask the guy that did the same thing in Austin texas in 1989. Yes, you are completely ignorant if you don't think he deserves 10 years for intentionally killing 130 year old trees on state property and taking away a school tradition. stay away from law buddy.

I agree the idiot should be punished to the max for killing the trees, but for "taking away a school tradition"?

I wish we could punish the Presidents and ADs who took ours away.

It shouldn't make difference, but isn't Toomer's Corners on private land? I guess I'm wrong there, but thought there was a drug store there. "I'm not stupid, just ignorant" - Coal Miner's Daughter

the only one ignorant.

17 Auburn's tradition.

Improper use of the Spike 80 will get his *** in trouble with the EPA but killing two trees is worth 10 years in prison only in the mind of a distributed idiot.

If you are in "law" heaven help us.

I believe that what he did was bad. Rolling those trees is a great tradition in college football but just because it is a tradition should not impact his sentencing. It would show he planned it and killed the trees with intent but it is STILL 17ING TREES. No person or animal as far as I know was harmed. I hope to God you don't make any decisions that affect people's lives. Please tell me you have never served on a jury.

Fine the guy, or even give him 3-5 yrs, for improper use of the chemicals but screw the damn trees and Auburn. They can plant new trees and they'll eventually be 130 yrs old too

Yea we novices should all stay away from law and let self righteous dubmasses like you run the show. News flash matlock, Rapists and drug dealers get less time. But by god at least they didn't take away a school's "tradishuns". 130 year old trees are killed everyday. It's called selling hardwood off the back 40. 10 years for even a moron that guy is wil be considered a little extreme to everyone outside of AU circles.

And every auburn fan that is crying about tradition and that should be considered a crime in itself.... Well you better get that criminals name off your stadium. Your MSU fancard should be revoked if you side with an Auburn fan on the loss of their little tree tradition. Those same people crying about their trees are the same ones that named a stadium after cheater that didn't care about ours. 17 em.

question : could they go ahead and hack the trees down and get money for the hard wood? or will the poison affect the wood even if they did that?

He is going to get 10 years because of the restricted herbicide. The federal and state laws are setup to bring the hammer down on anyone who doesn't use herbicides such as Spike according to label.

People fall for the commercial. Animals are not people but people seem to think animals being killed is somehow worse then killing people in wars and in murders.

There really hasn't been any decent article covering the situation yet that I've seen - only a bunch a sappy "dey kilt r treedichunds!" articles.

If he does get 10 years, I hope it's based on the heavy usage of controlled herbicides - which I assume is a federal matter. If what he did ended up being a hazard to humans and they want to throw him under the jail for that, fine by me. Ten years for the end result of killing a tree is ridiculous - I don't care if another crazy in Texas got 9 years for killing the Treaty Oak.

although the premeditation and maliciousness of this case might make a difference. While completely nuts, and a total dick move, this isn't exactly Love Canal or Minamata Bay. I think a heavy, heavy fine and having to mix with the general public in Alabama (especially the half that hate him) should be punishment enough.

one year for killing the trees and nine years for wearing that elephant pecker hat in public.
