Former Mississippi State University big man Renardo Sidney has signed with the Island Storm for the 2014-15 season.
Sidney, a six-foot-10, 290-pound centre from Jackson, Miss., averaged nearly 12 points per game and 6.5 rebounds in two years at Mississippi State.
“He has a tremendous skill set for a guy of his size,” said Storm head coach Joe Salerno. “He can knock down the 18-footer with ease, but also has a very good back to the basket game.
“He is a true inside, outside threat, something that will fit in very nicely with what we like to do offensively.”
Storm season ticket holders from last year have until Monday, Sept. 15, to renew season tickets for the new campaign.
Season tickets go on sale Sept. 16 to Oct. 3.
Single-game tickets will be available on Monday, Oct. 6.
Visit the box office at Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown open Monday to Friday from 11a.m. to 5 p.m. or phone 902-629-6625.

290, eh?

Those beady eyed flap jawed Canadians will get to see half the man that we had the pleasure of cheering for.

I seriously want to see Renardo at a true 290. I won't believe it until they trot him out there.

The headline on the brief about this in the (Tupelo) Daily Journal read, "Sidney joins Canadian club."

I assumed they meant the whiskey distiller. Maybe this was more accurate than intended.

Especially considering Canadian Thanksgiving is in just over 1 month. We all know how he managed to apparently gain 10 pounds while staying in 'Vegas for Thanksgiving during his NCAA fight. That holiday clearly has a special way of setting him back a pound or dozen.
