He is fast as hell, plays good defense and is a decent hitter. Not a terrible contract IMO

Braves are fighting that with the long-term deals to the young guys - they'll be saving a good bit on the backend of these deals, provided the players they are locking up stay healthy.

Re: Gardner, I don't see this as a bad deal at all. Consistently high WAR among OFs (top 20 last year after being top 10 in '10 and '11 and injured in '12). The Yanks don't need pop from him.
