Brief Geoff Collins radio interview

Cb's -Love is talented and most experienced. He likes Calhoun and Jiles level of talent.

DE - he thinks Ryan Brown and Preston Smith will surprise people.

DL - Euells is more natural inside ; Nelson Adams and PJ are ready to play significant snaps.

LB - had three or four last year; now says he has Eight SEC linebackers. All can play DE except but wants BEniquez and Richie working on LB only and those two are 4.5 guys and both are confident at 6-2 230. Says all his LB's know the safety position.

Safety - Hughes and Whitley first two mentioned. Very high on Kendrick Market and Said he didn't want to put pressure on him but compared him to that lsu safety (I guess honey badger) and that he was all over the field during spring.Said Dee Arrington is 220lbs.

No depth chart from Collins only that players are scheduled to play a good bit or not. He doesn't want players designated 2nd stringers bc he doesn't want them playing with a 2nd string mentality.

Very short interview on Jim Ellis's radio show this week so I wouldn't worry if your favorite players weren't included.

I don't know-doesn't seem to me we're going to be that good on defense. Lots of uncertainty re' DB's and inside tackles. Maybe the LB's will be pretty good. Hopefully, we will be a lot better than I'm anticipating.

I think we're going to surprise a lot of people defensively.

We have too much talent over there not to be good. Deep at dl. Watch list linebackers with speed and I even like our corners.
I hope we don't handcuff our defense again this year, these guys want and need to play aggressively in order to do well. That passive stuff just doesn't fit their personality and I think that's what led to so much frustration by our defense last year.
that said, I can't imagine we would go with that approach again.
