I think most fans don't realize what was going on down there.
how did he do that? what did he do? whose daughters? isn't every woman raped a daughter? we're these human daughters?
I want UK to be as successful in football as anyone but hiring a guy like that is wrong....he lost perspective about what was important and sold his soul...where he can be forgiven he should never coach on a campus again...try pro football Art...having said that...I have no clue who UK could get to turn this around...very frustrating

Larry, did u read the report?....families came to him and he turned them away...saying that maybe they were over reacting...very sad....he should have been helping these girls seek help with authorities instead became more worried about winning football games

when someone commits a crime against you, there's this group called law enforcement. that would be who you call. not the rapists boss, manager, teacher or coach.
His argument was a coach that did little to nothing to stop rape on his campus won't be hired as UK's football coach. He was pretty transparent about that.

When ppl demanded "The Joke" be fired and Leach hired (Leach was out of work at that time), KA, in his ultimate wisdom, stated things like "nobody is going to hire Leach. He treats his coaches bad and no one will work for him." Fast forward and he's at WSU and they went 9-4 last year.
When Joke was fired and some of us were pining for Petrino, he stated "Petrino is toxic, no D1 team will touch him and no coach will work for him because he's hard to work for." Fast forward and we see that WKU hired him that same year and then UL scooped him up.
So, in some way you're correct. UK will not hire Briles. But someone will and they'll look like geniuses in 2-3 years once he has them winning big. Like Leach and Petrino, all baggage will be forgotten while they cruise to bowl games and beat downs.
But hey, like IU basketball, we're doing it the right way..

Baylor is getting sued for MILLIONS of dollars. They are being sued because of HIS football team. If you were a university President would you sign off on him? Would you put your job at risk to hire him. I think not

Then you don't truly want to win. We have an AD who sucks at finding the "great man" who is also a great coach. And if Barney falls a$$ backward into the next Urban Myer, he'll mismanage the guy and he'll be gone in 3 years to a better program.
The only way our joke of a FB program is ever going to win is by taking chances. There's no way in hell UK FB would have a legit shot at Mike Leach, Bobby Petrino, Jim Tressell or Art Briles without those guys screwing up royally. Yet, Barney is too dumb to realize this and we are now 4 years into the Stoops era and getting the clown suit put on us by Shannon Dawson and Southern Miss at home.
We are UK. We can't do things like Bama. We have to take major chances. Playing it safe has gotten us right where we are today.
I did, it's refers to a time after rape had occurred. you can't stop rape after it occurs. I asked how he didn't stop rape as alleged. no one produced info. that's because that info doesn't exist, at least in public. keep speculating though, quite entertaining.

I want to win, therefore we should bring in a coach who does not care about rape. Listen to yourself.
Good people make bad choices when their livelihood is on the line. He screwed up but it doesn't mean he doesn't care about rape. I guarantee you he does. He just made a horrible decision to try and protect his name and program. Bad, bad decision but don't make him out to be Hitler.
With that said, we could have had Leach, Petrino, Tressell and not even needed to think about Briles. But we're doing things the right way... until Mitch leaves.
I think if Leach was on the "do not hire" list then that was stupid. Tressel wasn't really an option because of his show cause. Petrino has been debated ad nauseum.
I'll give you Tressel but, yes, Barney didn't go after Leach when he easily could have had him and likewise didn't go after Petrino when he could have locked his a$$ up for eternity with a $20M buyout.
Briles will be back sooner than later. If Briles is truly a monster, don't hire him. But at least talk to the guy and make an informed decision. Don't worry about your good guy image because guaranteed winners don't come around for UK very often.
It's funny that Barney thought Calipari was a cheat until he interviewed him one on one. Then he realized that he's not a bad guy; he's actually a great person.
It wasn't just an interview that convinced him to hire Cal. They reviewed his background thoroughly to see if the bad things in it were attributable to him. Briles wouldn't pass that test.
Don't forget that Petrino put the University in a very bad position. Because his mistress was compensated and worked under him. Don't know that I'd want him at UK until he had time to redeem himself at a smaller school. More than 1 year like WKU. But the man can coach.....period. Same with Briles. Both made mistakes. Huge mistakes. But they deserve a 2nd chance. Maybe later.
The background check can end up however you want it to as there are plenty of people who will tell you Briles is a good guy who made a bad mistake and has learned his lesson. Again, Barney isn't forward thinking enough to talk to the guy and then talk to people who know him best before making a decision.
