If the Golf Channel only existed for the majors, TPC and the Ryder Cup that would be enough to justify its existence. Go back to the days of Orlimar and Adams Tight Lies informecials as long as they do Live From from those 5 or 6 weeks per year.

Not sure who I got yet.

Ricky Fowler is my pick. Dark horse (if you can call him that) is Sergio.

Rose has a way of finding himself in contention on Sunday's.

Garcia will be somewhere on the leader board.

Agree with WKY, I like Fleetwood. Playing lights out right now. All he has to prove is he can play well when the pressure of a major is at its highest.

Nothing better than getting up early Saturday and Sunday and watching the British. So many mornings in the past I'd go out and get a ton of donuts/chocolate milk or go ham with my order at McDonalds/Hardee's breakfast and get FAT! watching the British. :golf::raised_hands:

No way man, A Tradition unlike any other is putting your laptop on your lap to watch the 3 same golfers play every shot until 3:00pm, where you get an awesome 3 hour window of coverage!

Rahm could well win it. As good a choice as any.

Last year's Sunday duel between Mickelson and Stenson was as good as it gets. If you didn't like that, then golf is just not your thing.

Saw a nickname for that I thought was great:

Old guy i can not stand - Ian Poulter
Always there - Justin Rose
Rising Sun great - Hideki Matsuyama
Can win anywhere - Adam Scott
Steady - Matt Kuchar
Got game and is hot - Jon Rahm

Personal favorite - Phil.

Him losing to Stenson last year was a tough one, played great, both did.

i watched Adam Scott for a while at the FedEx St. Jude this year. Dude stripes it, but his short game is really sub par. At least that week.

2 younger guys I wonder how they will do. Daniel Berger and Brian Harman. They've had good seasons, but this is The Open. Will be curious.

4 of last 6 Open champs over 40. This tourney takes patience, so look for a veteran. Champs at Royal Birkdale are Paddy Harrington, Mark Omeara, Tom Watson, Arnold Palmer. They are all around good players. With this info some of the names I would consider are Henrik Stenson, Sergio Garcia, Justin Rose, & Adam Scott.

I'd like to see to see Mickelson win. I think he has at least 1 more major in him. Should've won it last year but Henrik Stenson was absolutely on fire with his Putter.

Seeing Todd Hamilton on the list of tee times made me wonder, who is the biggest fluke winner ever in a major championship?

Limited to modern times, last 40 years or so I will say:

British - Todd Hamilton, although Van de Velde would have topped him. Would have said Paul Lawrie, but he made the Euro Ryder Cup team last year . . .
US Open - Lucas Glover (Andy North a close 2nd, although if you win it twice, hard to say it was a fluke)
PGA - YE Yang (1st time EVER that Tiger had coughed up a Sunday lead in a major, and has not won one since)
Masters - Larry Mize comes immediately to mind, although Trevor Immelman has been a goner for many years now as well. Think he had a ton of injuries

Good choices

British - I'd throw in Ben Curtis along with Hamilton
US Open - I'd say Michael Campbell probably more so than Glover. Glover still playing pretty well and great ball striker. Just can't putt.
PGA - Seems to produce quite a few flukey winners but your choice is pretty spot on.
Masters- Mize was pretty solid for a lot of years. I'd go with Immelmann or Mike Weir. I'd say Danny Willett is well on his way to joining the list and Schwartzel is also up there if he doesn't do anything else.

Rich Beem, Shaun Micheel added to PGA list. If you're a journeyman and want to win a major focus on the PGA.

In my fantasy pool I went with Fleetwood and Rahm. Already used some of the better picks but those 2 could win me another $125 this week.

Rory has been injured all year and has putted like crap. Incredibly talented but mentally nowhere near the best to ever play the game.

Don't forget the immortal Bob May, who almost beat Tiger at the 2000 PGA. I also thought of Willett after the Masters, has been on the side of milk boxes as MIA.

A carton of Marlboros and a fifth of Jack from being John Daly? Ok, not quite but your point is valid.

Regardless of how one feels about Tiger it's hard to dispute that he was in a class by himself when it came to the mental game.

Masters- Mize was pretty solid for a lot of years. I'd go with Immelmann or Mike Weir.

Mike Weir was one of the top players in the world for a 5 year stretch. He won 3 times in 2003 inc. his Masters, and had 9 top 10 finishes in Majors from 2003-08. He has also won The Tour Championship and a WGC event.

Yea. After I posted that I went and looked. Had forgotten how good a stretch he had there as he kind of just fell off the map. Still think Mize had too good of an overall career to call him a fluke.

100 years from now, Mike Weir will be the answer one of the great sports trivia questions, i.e, who was the first left handed golfer to win the Masters?

I can see Rahm... don't see any red white and blue.
