We just know/see more now. Wasn’t the case not too long ago.
USC experienced a similar scare in July 2022 when five-star center Vincent Iwuchukwu went into cardiac arrest during a summer workout

I think his point is the one I made above. Lots of these incidents in the past weren’t well publicized. Now they are. Doesn’t necessarily mean they’re happening more.

Many things people fear are more because of media exposure rather than actual risk.
While that’s partly true of course with more media coverage today, there is also certainly an uptick with this medical issue the past few years. I’d think everyone would want to find out why
