For those who don't want to read/watch.

"The Brookville High School football team has been placed on probation for the 2026 season by the Virginia High School League over the fallout of an eligibility dispute involving the stepsons of former NFL tight end and Brookville great Logan Thomas.

The ruling renders the Bees' football program ineligible to compete in the postseason next year, and also includes a $100 fine and the forfeiture of the team's win over Liberty High School on Oct. 17, according to an email sent to parents on Tuesday and obtained by The News & Advance.

...

The sanctions stem from the team's decision to play the Thomas brothers, the oldest two stepsons of Logan Thomas, who played for the Bees, in the game against Liberty. The brothers, unnamed minors in the court documents, were at the center of a dispute with the VHSL over their eligibility following the family's move from California back to Lynchburg after Logan Thomas retired from the NFL.

...

While an independent hearing officer later confirmed that the brothers were in fact eligible to play for Brookville, a sportsmanship committee was convened during the season over the school playing the brothers against Liberty, since they were not deemed eligible to play by the Seminole District Committee at the time of that game."

For anyone with knowledge of Class 3 power points... would Liberty High School have made the playoffs if Brookville would have had to forfeit the game during the season?

THIS is the key question.

Appears they would have still missed....by 1 pt.

Brookevilles opponents got more points from them getting that win in the regular season? Right?
That’s the key. There are many tentacles and downstream effects to the points system. Even if a team wouldn’t still make it, there could have been the potential for seeds to be affected in just about any bracket in which opponents “touched” by varying degrees of separation.

And I don’t know if the VHSL has issued guidance on how points are affected in a forfeiture situation. Or do they just pawn it off on the regions and let them figure it out?
