go_rice it looks like you’ve come a long way from your Marist is not a rival stance with this post.
That was my sophomore year at MC and easily the best team they had at that time. But that game was a Murphy’s law for MC. They had 3 turnovers that absolutely killed them. But hats off to Matt Larson and the JC defense
how did this thread turn into a Mt Carmel thread?

Does any thread here stay on topic? He was referencing my post and article about my memory of MC winning week 1 against a great team and losing in the semis to the same team because I believe you referenced your concern about the same obstacle Rice is facing.

What is the stadium like at Marist? My wife's cousin went there but I have never been to a game there. Is the field at their campus?

It's Feetos favorite stadium? Visitor stands are palatial. Kidding aside Feeto, they can cram 8000 in there (with about 3000 of which standing room)

I just did a Google earth search and zoomed all the way in. The turf field is beautiful. Looks like they only had a few yards to spare trying to squeeze the field onto the property on the south west corner of the end zone. The high school building is RIGHT THERE.

Can someone explain the visitors seating to me? It looks like there is a large asphalt pad with NO bleachers. Is it standing only? Was this arial photo taken before the bleachers were erected?

Home bleachers look amazing. Nice facility!

The visitor stands are about the length of that pad and I’d day about 20 rows up. Very nice facility. Plenty of space for Saturday’s standing-room-only crowd.

The bigger question is, will the concessions be serving Orange Whips!

The visitor stands are temporary stands that are removed after the season until August, so you might have caught an image when they were down. Parking there will be tight. They have 2 lots that are gonna fill up fast.

Heard Marist was only allowed to sell 5000 tickets for the game. (3900 for Marist and 1100 for BR) Cemetery fence could be your best option!

Just to blow off steam here.....I understand that there are moronic IHSA rules in place here that give the home game to a lower seed that we've already beaten this year. Ive come to accept that. Something really needs to be changed. I know that BR would have gladly played the Z-B or OPRF on the road over this scenario, and its been going on forever so it is what it is....but this scenario is ridiculous. To give 3900 tickets to the lower seed and only 1100 to the #1 seed for a semifinal is insane. Make semifinals go to neutral sites if this is the case. I'm sure you could sell 10,000 at Toyota, Gately or even Soldier Field. Probably 17,000+ if you do a semifinal doubleheader at one of those places with the LA-LWE game.
All that said, this is our year, BR 27 Marist 14.

5,000 sold. I’m guessing 9,000 will find their way in...Marist isn’t turning away that gate and concessions!

I don't know, think it's pretty hard to complain when you've had three home playoff games in a row. Are you saying that it should be NFL-style rules where the top seed should get a home game throughout the entirety of playoffs? In a 32 team bracket that seems like a lot to ask for. The current system seems pretty fair to me.

Plus, the manner in which teams are seeded is a problem. Actual seeding is not done. Some of those 9-0 teams are not necessarily deserving, since the system does not take into account quality of competition.

I love the system. 3 straight home games, including a semi-final game for a team that is a #14 seed and 5-4 heading into the playoffs! I couldnt ask for anything more!!

The home field thing is set up to even things out at the gate but then decidedly is given an advantage to a team because they "earned" it is stupid. Give both schools 2500 tickets to sell. Brother Rice fans should have the same access as Marist fans to the game.

Once again the IHSA proves that it really does not care about the sport, schools or kids.

The NFHS and IHSA not allowing a decent student production of home games is ludicrous and I'd love a parent with a legal background to challenge that one some day.

Everything about the state of Illinois sucks.

Kids fromSt. Christina, St John Fisher, St Cajetan, St Catherine, Martyrs etc will decide where they are spending their next 4 years based on this game.

I would hope their decision is based more than on the outcome of one game. I would think most of the kids have already made up their minds.

But I like your enthusiasm! Rice by a FG.

From a fellow Catholic Leaguer, good luck to both teams. As for parking, I remember covering some games as a freelancer at Marist some years back and people were parking on the side of 115th all the way to Cicero. Should be an awesome atmosphere.

Hard to beat the same team twice in the same year. This has all the makings of a great HS football game and one that will be remembered on the Southside and the CCL members and ESCC members for years to come. Bragging rights on the Southside for the winner. Being a CCL guy I kinda of favor BR in a very close game. Good luck to both teams and prayers for no injuries to the players.

Better seed should get the home game throughout. They earned it.

I may be the minority on this, and it’s just my opinion, but I don’t think home field advantage matters in high school football. It never effected me either way when I played, even in the “The Pit” at the old St. Rita!

Marist 31 BR 10. Hopefully turnovers or poor officiating doesn’t cost either team. I just don’t see Rice staying w Marist. I was at the first game and Marist shot themselves in the foot over and over. Not Saturday.

In big games with SR, MC LA, and/or Marist does BR supply 2500 seats to the other team?

Not sure if this has been covered already, but I do see that the game is already SOLD OUT - no tickets to be sold at the gate

No neutral sites -- ever. I've enjoyed visiting schools all over the 8 county area ... Woodstock, McHenry, the 3 Hinsdales, Wheaton North, Naperville Central, Neuqua Valley and others. I sure don't want to go to that big empty ugly Toyota Bowl.

Note to gorice ... you have no gripe whatsoever. Three home games and you're complaining? Mt Carmel has to drive to another time zone and you're complaining? Your only road game is a couple blocks away, and you're complaining? I'm pulling for your school, but get real. Thank you.

I don’t know how that works because BR visitor stands only hold about 500. Not knocking it go_rice just stating a fact. I know you can sit wherever you like but most visitors don’t want to sit on the home side. Is it up to the home field how many they give out? Like I said before there will be more then 5,000 fans there Saturday.
