If it’s a team from your conference you should hope they win in a bowl game. I want the B1G to go 9-0 but that just makes common sense.

)Just can’t root for Ohio st , Penn state or Michigan. Heck I’m rooting against Maryland too. Should be a fun weekend rooting against the teams that trash us every chance they get. I don’t care about conference affiliation like I did in the old big East .
Guys... guys... guys.... There's "rooting" and then there's "wagering." If one must make a choice, say, in a pool, where's the harm in selecting the team you "think" will win vs the team you would prefer to win? BTW, I did select Rutgers over My-jami. I thought we'd win AND I wanted us to win.
After further consideration... I've opted to go with The Ohio State University, based on the strength of their defense. As for their offense, given their "next man up" roster is loaded with 5-star/4-star talent, they should be able to put up enough points to get the win.

Understood. But, again, the very narrow context here is a pool selection: which team do I believe stands the best chance of winning. That's the end game. I'll "root" for them in that context. One game. For the purpose of getting another "win" in the pool. And only that.
Why would I root for Michigan, OSU, or Penn State? Agree with other poster, I don’t even root for Maryland.
Do you love Rutgers, want the best for Rutgers, want the image of Rutgers to be positive outside of our collective, do you care that the conference is successful enough to command top dollar and billing, etc etc etc
If you can't see why rooting for your conference, and especially so vs the SEC, isn't in RU's best interest than I'd say your parents wasted their money on a college tuition
