I know Payne got it one week, but did Staton-McCray once as well?

Agree, Nova was a disaster.

Creighton, strange game ( but exciting to be there). Neither team shot well. But Clark made winning plays that game in the 2nd half that donโ€™t always show up in the box score. Just the fact that he immediately recognized the 1-3-1 trap designed to force him left, gets all the way around to the right, draws at least two guys, rims out a jumper and gives Hines the rebound and put back opportunity. A lot of quick thinking in 10 seconds.

Willard will have something up his sleeve to try to counter Clark again on Wednesday.

I agree with Sha that this team plays best when it plays fast. Budd has to lead that as he's at his best then also.

Clark vs Villanova: 4pts, 2assists, 1/11
Clark vs Creighton: 8pts, 2assists, 4/13
Time to step it up against better competition
I'm hoping he was just pressing at Prudential and now is more relaxed. Thus, the elevated level of play. He needs to play sound basketball in this next game at Villanova.

Lewis presents a challenge for Clark. But in the last Nova game, he missed so many makable shots. I donโ€™t see that repeating. We need a great game out of Clark to have any chance at all. I think Hines is the X factor. I would love to see the Hall feed him in the low post to take off the pressure off Clark and get some good spacing on the floor.

Budd is a far different player now. Playing with much more confidence and is accelerating the ball up the court. He is looking for his shot far more often. Earlier in the season he was deferring. He's acting like he knows he is the man. My take - let him deal. The mid-range J is falling which should open up better looks from 3 for others. I think he has to take one or two threes to make teams honest on D and not packing the paint.

The whole team was so off in the nova game for some reason, I assume the step up / 1st BE home game were factors, and the familiarity kw has with sha too. now the guys have a better grasp of BE play. And of course, the fouls to Budd (played 20 minutes) are always a killer.

I forgot, we we down only 4 vs nova at halftime. they shot 49% from the field and 43 from 3 (and they made 10 3s and both %s better than their average), we shot 33 and 23 (both %s worse), with Budd and Simpkins going 3-22, and fisher and rivera were our 2 leading scorers, and no Hines and Steph only had 3 pts, but he did have 10 bds. We both shot 16 fts, we made one more.

There are a lot of reasons in the #s for optimism. Of course, Nova might have been the reason for our #s.

BTW I say, 1994 meet 2026.

Clark will be ready this time and I hope Sha is too.

Congrats to Bud as he had a great week and was key in both of our wins. Don't forget those two teams we beat were playing very well in their previous games before we beat them. Clark makes us go and hoping he remembers the first Nova game and stays out of foul trouble. Glad we have him on our side.

His 3 best games have been against Marq, X, & Gtown. 3 of the worst teams in the league. He needs to play better against better competition. What was wrong with that post?
Whatโ€™s he supposed to do, play badly against them? And Kim English thanks you for not calling his team the worst in the league.

Remember when Carrington was playing the point and Willard wanted him to first look to pass and Carrington was playing the worst ball in his career. Then he said 'blank' it and played free and easy and once again became the player we saw in years 1-3. Well, Clark is not saying 'blank' it, but he is now playing free and easy without restraints and like Carrington he's playing his best ball down the stretch.

Sometimes coaches have to know when to loosen the reigns and let the talent shine. It worked for Carrington and it's now working for Clark.

Interesting analogy. You are always on your game. Lot of similarities to the "freed up" mentality.

Running and getting turnovers are keys. It prevents Holloway from barking signals in the halfcourt and getting into the heads of the players forcing a short shot clock.

Prepare your team to play the game before the whistle blows and then just make adjustments as the game progresses without overcoaching.
