If it's a simple installation, you would likely do a better, more careful installation than the companies do. By that I mean you would measure where they just estimate distances, you'd make sure you put the lines in at the proper depth (around here it's 18 inches I think), etc. But if you have hills, lots of rocks and/or lots of roots, like I do, it might be best left to the pros. Otherwise, rent a Ditch Witch, buy the parts, and go to it. You could save quite a bit of money.
