Loses to Marquette today and also doesn’t make the AP poll. Just Indiana being Indiana!
Research would do you good. Yeah, IU lost. What you didn't tell, was they played w/o their starting backcourt. Phinisee and Green did not play. Hunter was on a minutes limitation. Lost by 3.

But until IU gets back to winning, well this thread is right.

BTW though---IU is 5-2 in football...:boxing:

i was looking for iu’s votes down on the bottom but i only saw teams like harvard and vermont receiving votes. i’m sure there’s an explanation and that they’re working on it.

I watched Blue Chips the other day.

Told my wife the actor playing Ricky Roe was not a good actor.

Looked up his bio.

Ah, it all makes sense now.

Why do IU fans accept mediocrity? What are you thoughts on the current IU culture?

Green didn't play, Hunter was on a minutes limitation, blah, blah, blah. IU always has some kind of excuse. If you guys didn't suck so badly, you could recruit enough decent players that an injury or two wouldn't destroy you. Oh, you might lose in the tournament without key players, but you wouldn't be as bad as you have for the past 30 years. And as for being 5-2 in football, this is a basketball forum, and how long has it been since IU played in a bowl game?

Yeah, with wins over Ball State, Eastern Illinois, Connecticut, Rutgers and a Maryland team Penn State beat 59-0.

Even Indiana's bragging sucks.
I guess that's what happens when your once respectable basketball program advances past the Sweet 16 ONE TIME SINCE THE YEAR BILL CLINTON WAS FIRST INAUGURATED. hahahhahaha. Sorry. I just love typing that. It's one of those statistics that seems totally impossible, and yet it is true.
5-2 , is 5-2 brother.

Some of y'all really need to relax. You take **** waaaaaay to serious. Its a game....That's all. I like UK. Always have. BUT... I mean I find this thread funny, TBH. Here's a program like UK,----All-time wins, 8 NCAA Titles....all kinds of 1st and 2nds among NCAA stats. Yet, for some reason---You have this thread. But then speak about how teams/fans are obsessed with UK??? Weird.

Why? Its just a game.[cheers]

What excuse? Green, a SR starting guard, didn't play....Phinisee, Soph starting PG---did not play. I mean, hows that an excuse? Now, had I said we missed 19 free throws, and thats why we lost---then sure, thats an excuse. Anyways---its a scrimmage. And TBH, I'm happy with how things came out. MInus two starters---shot 54% from the FT line---Yet only "lost" by 3, to a preseason Top 25 team?

I'll take that.

As for the football comment? Dude--it was in jest. Hence the "boxing emoji". BTW, Last time IU went to a Bowl was 2016.

You really think the fans accept this? It has nothing to do with the fans. Its the administration. Look, if the powers to be at IU, took basketball as serious as the powers to be at UK did? We wouldn't be having this conversation. IMO, Indiana tried to become to politically correct, after the debacle with Knight. They let him run rampant for 28 years---and when the FF's and titles stopped, so did the leash he (Knight) had. But thats a whole other story.

As for the culture at IU? I think its getting there. I am happy with Miller, and believe somehow, Indiana's administration, got this hire right. I think when Miller gets his kids, his system, his culture, he's going to be a problem while at Indiana. I think it starts this year, IF....Indiana can avoid the injuries they endured last season.

To be honest---Indiana got what they deserved for, A) Allowing Knight to be as he was for so long, only to throw him under the bus at the end. B) Hiring Kelvin Sampson. He's a great, great coach. But seriously? Hire a coach with the issues he had at OU? Wow. I love the Miller hire. TIme will tell, but I do think Glass accidently got this one right.

Because it’s not just a game! Not for Kentucky fans, it’s instilled into you from the time you enter this world. Being an Indiana fan you just wouldn’t understand.

Sure I understand. I mean, Indiana is hollow ground when it comes to basketball. Its not that I don't understand---Its, well, I grew up.

Making fun of Indiana is relaxing. Why would you think it was anything but stress-free fun?

I think the word you are looking for is 'hallowed.' But hollow works - actually given IU's lack of achievements for 30-plus years, Indiana basketball is a hollow shell of a program. As for growing up, I suspect if your program had had any kind of regular success, you'd have stayed as engaged as Kentucky fans still are. It's like saying Bengals fans "grew up." No, they got sick of losing and being the butt of rivals' jokes.

I did misuse the word, "hallowed". Sorry, I was once again listening to my wife complain about anti-Trump folks..

The bolded part is interesting. Are you insinuating you're possibly a "bandwagon" fan? Just curious. Anyways...I'm as engaged with Indiana basketball now, as I was when they were winning titles(76, 81 and 87),and going to FF's. I love IU. Always will. No matter how bad we have been, I still root. Always will. I've just come to realize, that its not life and death. I fought in Iraq....Lost my grandparents(whom raised me)...Battled life threatening issues. And currently, watching my daughter-in-law, battle for her life. It puts basketball, hell ANY sport, in perspective. I'd love to see Indiana become again what they were. But if they do not, I am pretty sure life will be just fine.

Dude, that wasn't a very nice thing to say, or even civil. That being said, I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Consider this post a redundant bump. IU still sucks.
I'm glad you agree Tommy. :sunglasses: When it comes to IUSEDTOBE, I'm quite uncivil, just like their fans were to our visiting fans in that high school gym when they won their "championship" on that last second shot.

I bet those popcorn boxes commemorating that shot are invaluable in the corn fields up there.
