If this kid can really punt or if he punted as a gimmick. I think having a true offensive player as a punter, especially a fast and elusive player, could really make things interesting

In the MS/AL game that the MS coaches didn't bring a dedicated punter. How good he is, I don't know. But he was good enuogh for that.

We have 2 of the top 4 rated punting recruits coming in next year...Heath Hutchins from JUCO, and the guy from Columbus who grayshirted.

I haven't seen him punt very often, but I can with certainty that he could boot it more than four yards. I bet I could get 10 myself right now out of dumb luck just drop kicking the thing.

My buddy that still goes to State and has for the last four years had the second best average in the state at Meridian High in 2002. He went to Valley for a semester on scholarship then said 17 this. But anyway, what I'm trying to say is that there were probably 20 kids at least on campus during Mcshanks years that could have done better.

but punted/played #2 qb/#1 WR for Tupelo last season. The guy is the real deal. If THS had a real coach instead of a stupid coonass, we'd have a trophy on display.

I think he had one that was officially over 60 yards in that game - it hit inside the 5 & bounced through the endzone. Seems like Tupelo was on there own 34 yd line (I remember looking at the scoreboard because I was stunned after that punt). So it carried a legit 60 yards. I think he had another that was downed inside the 10 during that game - plenty of hang time.

So yeah he can really punt, and not just some fake-punt gimmick rugby style crap. I'm not sure how consistent he could be, but we'll truly be wasting a talent if he never lines up at punter in some 4th & short situations. Especially considering the fact he also played QB, he could be a threat to pass or run on fake punts.

My point is that a regular punter can't run sub 4.5 and scare the **** out of a return team. Though we never used it on a fake, I recall Sherrill using Wyatt as a punter and we forced the defence to play defence even when recieving the punt.

Bump could be the punter inside the 40. Make him a rugby kicker. On 4th & 5 or less when he rolls out for the rugby kick let him keep running.
