Have Malcolm Johnson or Robert Johnson played any snaps yet this season? I was thinking Michael Carr was the only true freshman who's played there.<div>The CL was talking about those 2 getting more snaps in practice in preparation to play against Florida:</div><div>http://www.clarionledger.com/article/20101015/SPORTS030102/10150350/1025/RSS02</div><div>
</div><div>Is it really worth burning those redshirts? We seem to be wasting Carr's true freshman year as it is anyway. Unless the Johnsons are better than Chris Smith, Michael Carr, Ricco Sanders, etc., why don't those just pick up the slack?</div>

Idon't want to burn their redshirt, but I would if necessary. We need wins and a bowl game. I believe the one biggest way for us to improve recruiting is to have a winning record and a bowl game. If they can make a difference, I would burn the redshirt.

Unfortunately we have two of the worst possible things going for us at the WR position ina spread offense:
1. We're young
2. We're thinon numbers

Now that Berry is lost for the season, I don't think we really have any other choice.</p>

about burning redshirts after the way our program mishandled Jerious and Arceto. However, Dan has shown many times over that he's not Croom, and I'm getting wooly enough to think he's got a leg up on The Kang in quite a few facets. I'm hoping personnel decisions is one of them.

Those guys will be picking up the slack. But in our offense, you just need more bodies than that. Plus, you don't want to start getting the reputation for never playing true freshmen. It can hurt you in recruiting if they think you won't play them their first year. If they can help us win, play them.

Now, if they were a QB I would because QB's take time to develop.

I would like to RS everyone if at all possible, but I also understand that is something that is not realistic as well. Especially at MSU where we are going to have less depth than the Florida's and Alabama's every year.

WR's come in and play as true freshmen all the time in the SEC. What I would like to see happen is Carr get some touches. Something like a screen or whatever. The only time we have thrown it to him was downfield. We need to get him involved and build his confidence.

And the same with the two Johnson's.

Also, we have Morrow committed, Devin Fosselman, and Joe Price committed at WR as well and we are likely to pick up some more, so that makes it a little easier to absorb burning redshirts on WR's at this point.

Its no guarantee that we're gong to burn either of their redshirts but its definitely more of a possibility now. Their reps have increased just in case of the slim chance it does happen. I doubt seriously if both redshirts are burned and Ill still be a little surprised if either gets burned.

When we were 2-3 and staring down at 2-4. It's about a lack of depth now, not just a lack of a playmaker. And at 4-2 we have one more highly probable win and several that we can win. Win 3 or 4 more and we put ourselves in really good shape.

That we should all expect to see some surprises in the receiving corp this week but he couldn't comment further. This was in response to the Johnson RS question.

Bumphis spends muchmore time in the Wildcat,...explodes in it.

I don't remotely think we just started running this.

I don't see why we have to burn anyone's redshirts. Carr and Sanders aren't getting much p.t. Both of them will get more time and one of them has to step up. It's sink or swim time. Only if another main contributor goes down would I consider it.
