No idea but it's being insinuated by a lot of people who cover State. Regardless, it's worth a shot with him being attempt #1. If h declines, keep moving down that list. I'm sure Butch is there somewhere.
It’s well worth our best shot. But I’ll be very surprised if he doesn’t get a raise & extension and more NIL support at Virginia from this. Butch wiuld be an ok hire but I doubt he’s interested at all.

This is kind of a pointless argument both ways. Whether BOC or Butch is interested, and will be the next head coach, is something that is already known by all 3 parties (MSU, O’Conner, and Butch). O’Conner is obviously above Butch on the list, but Butch could reasonably be #2. MSU powers that be know whether or not O’Conner and Butch are possibilities. There is no point in arguing which we should ask first, we’re already way past that point.
Except nobody knows that. We don't know if a coach has made a decision or not. We don't know if an offer has been made beyond our first choice.
It is a 100% certainty that O’Conner has been offered the job, if there is any mutual interest at all between him and MSU. We fired Lemonis a month ago, and his season ended a week ago. He doesn’t need, nor would he receive, longer than 2-3 days max after being done playing to provide an answer. The die is already cast with O’Conner either way.
The new era likely plays in our favor for baseball. While we may not have as much money as most of our peers, we are always going to allocate a higher percentage towards baseball than most (rightly or wrongly is up for debate).
