Absolutely….If he actually had interest….which is debatable.
This is the point i'm making.

There are people who i know are in the know (which means nothing when it comes to coaching searches b/c ADs aren't running around telling people $h!t) who swear Schlossnagle was coming and all in but Cohen backed off b/c he heard Schlossnagle had extra curricular stuff going on with females.

I have no idea if thats true or not, but you ask anyone you are about to hire more than 1 or 2 questions. Its too big of a decision to leave anything out there.

Even if that is true about Schlossnagle, that’s something that is going to be vetted out before the interview / initial contact.

It’s not like the contract was about to get faxed over to Schloss and then Cohen just came running into the room yelling “WAIT!!!! I just heard this nasty rumor!” It’s also not like Cohen asked him how many coeds or people in the athletic department he was 17ing in the actual interview. Those aren’t things that happen in real life.

No $h!t but you can ask things about his long term plans. How he feels about NIL? Are you gonna stick around for 1 year and then bail for Texas?

You sit down and have a professional interview with whoever it is you are hiring unless you know them professionally very very well. Like you work with them daily for years.

Its a million dollar decision. You don't just wing it.

What is the point of those questions? How does he feel about NIL? Might as well ask how he feels about breathing. NIL is here to stay. It doesn’t matter how he feels about it.

Pointless. Truth or lie, no one is going to say anything other than “of course not” to this. And its very likely to rub anyone the wrong way. Again not a real life question for someone like O’Conner.

Not going to split hairs on this. Whatever your definition is of this, I can assure you it has already happened with O’Conner to the extent required for his credentials. The process is complete with him, whatever the outcome turns out to be. That was my only point.

Hiring a Top 5 coach is the opposite of winging it. What actually happens in those situations is he is interviewing us more than we are him. Open communication and transparency is key. Not coming up with a bunch of dumb “gotcha” questions for someone who is way overqualified for them.
