No $h!t but you can ask things about his long term plans. How he feels about NIL?
What is the point of those questions? How does he feel about NIL? Might as well ask how he feels about breathing. NIL is here to stay. It doesn’t matter how he feels about it.
Are you gonna stick around for 1 year and then bail for Texas?
Pointless. Truth or lie, no one is going to say anything other than “of course not” to this. And its very likely to rub anyone the wrong way. Again not a real life question for someone like O’Conner.
You sit down and have a professional interview with whoever it is you are hiring unless you know them professionally very very well. Like you work with them daily for years.
Not going to split hairs on this. Whatever your definition is of this, I can assure you it has already happened with O’Conner to the extent required for his credentials. The process is complete with him, whatever the outcome turns out to be. That was my only point.
Its a million dollar decision. You don't just wing it.
Hiring a Top 5 coach is the opposite of winging it. What actually happens in those situations is he is interviewing us more than we are him. Open communication and transparency is key. Not coming up with a bunch of dumb “gotcha” questions for someone who is way overqualified for them.
