According to WSOC it is. He can come on down to Richmond. He'd only have to serve a 1 game suspension probably.

What ever happened to the Innocent Until Proven Guilty Theory, or did it evaporate with Edsels , hula hoops, and pet rodents ?

CMS doesn't care about the Constitution. If charges are filed, then he will be automatically suspended until there's a resolution.

As of 6:00 tonight, there were NO charges filed. I don't know where WSOC got their info from, but mine came straight from the Butler coaching staff.

Actually...check that on the above post. It was a misdemeanor arrest, so I don't think CMS suspends coaches or players for misdemeanors, just for felonies.

I don't guess it matters whether charges are filed or not as far as him being on the sidelines.

Maybe it was the mugshot that has everyone confused? Is that not part of the process when being charged?

With that said, this thread should end before it gets started. :)

If it was the NFL, he would be suspended with pay and placed on Roger Goodell's exempt list. It's a new world...with domestic violence...CMS.

You have to walk away. Never been in that situation but I have seen it play-out and it never ends good when you place your hand on a female when its in this context. Hard to walk back in a classroom of girls after this whether he is found guilty or not.

Never ever put your hands on a woman for any reason,I've been in situations where I just had to walk away from things,I knows it's very hard to do,but it can be done, you'll save yourself a lot of trouble, time, money and embarrassment if you just get out of the situation.

This is not out of the ordinary. Employees have rights. He has not been convicted. The admin may think having him on the job right now is a distraction or they want the legal system to make decision which would determine his future.

I agree. My thought was, the fact there were charges, they had to take action. The fact it was with pay, shows they understand there has been no conviction. I don't know coach Hales. Of course, I have no inside knowledge of what happened. All I know is from what I've read, people who do know him, say he is well liked and respected. Just as a human being, I hope things will work out well for him and the woman involved.

Usually when a person is suspended with Pay it is a procedural first step to protect the larger entity from legal action by the charged. He has been charged but not convicted and this action enables the situation to run its course through the legal system and gives the school district the crutch of that legal system which in most cases grinds a bit slowly. At this point returning him to the school or the field is the furthest thing from the school districts mind. The legal and communications people for the District are managing the optics and the pure legal ramifications of the situation. Domestic abuse is a very hot button issue in today's society and it should be so I am sure that a very methodical approach will be taken in this case..
